Was Anonym at Smitty's a mag?
My wife and I have never regretted a visit to this Smitty's. This time I had their turkey dinner with stuffing and all the trimmings. It was generous, lots of quality meat, well presented and delicious. My wife had a tasty steak on a bun...with sweet potato fries (an upgrade) and a Caesar salad. Our waitress, Marissa, was very attentive. Unfortunately there were a few glitches with the meal and the ensuing bill, but... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Smitty's:
My wife and I went to this longtime restaurant chain and were warmly greeted at the entrance and then led to a booth of our choice. The pleasant and competent waitress took my wife's order of a large garden salad and mine of grilled haddock coated...with egg.My wife enjoyed her salad but I was disappointed with the haddock which was not fresh. The steamed vegetables and baked potato on my dish also didn't taste freshly... Still rather a nice diner with extensive menu - in central Halifax, next to the park, all the staff where most helpful and whilst not fine dining, more than adequate food with generous portions and well presented food.
Ate dinner here after walking the Halifax Public Gardens. Had the Chef salad, huge but didn't care for the 1000 island dressing. Husband had the Taco Quesadilla and small salad, good.
My husband and I took my mother out for a quick lunch after an appointment. We chose the restaurant because of its convenient location. The waiter was a friendly young man who was enthusiast about the lunch specials. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich with a broccoli soup. Not only was the soup one of the worst broccoli soups I have ever tasted it was served in a tiny dish, similar to a dipping sauce dish only about 1/3 cup in quantity. I had to ask for a new sandwich as well as the bread was hard on the outside as if it had been sitting out in the kitchen waiting for someone to order. The second sandwich tasted like it was tainted with a tuna taste. My husband's club sandwich was decent. My mother ordered a waffle which was tough with soggy strawberries. This will be our last visit. You can get a beautiful breakfast at Cora's just down the street.
Food was amazing. Honey bbq bacon cheese burger with sweet potato fries and an ultimate mozza burger with fries. The tomatoe, mozza sticks and onions frings were suppose to be on mozza burger. Glad I did ask them to be put on the side, the burger was huge as it was, without them. Definitely give them a try!. Yummm!
