A fantastic spot in the heart of East London. Offers excellent value for pints and drinks, with quick service and perfectly poured pints. The outdoor area is equipped with multiple screens both inside and outside for game viewing. Plus, the front features one of the largest outdoor tables, perfect for enjoying drinks in any season. While they don’t serve food, you can order delicious Yardsale pizza right at the pub.... View all feedback.
What Griffindale dislikes about The Perserverance:
I hate having to write bad reviews but feel like I need to be honest. Went in here to watch the Arsenal match on a dreary August Saturday, only to be told that all half pints soft drinks are £2.50 whilst sport is showing. Management staff were inhospitable, screens were inadequate for showing sport on. Unpleasant visit topped off by staff asking lad to leave when he didn't immediately buy a drink on entering the pub. My friend and I were treated poorly by the rude owner of the restaurant after spending 1.5 hours there and purchasing 2 pints and 2 cokes right before the football match we came to watch started. Despite it being a quiet Sunday, we decided to take a break from ordering more drinks since we had already paid for drinks earlier. Once we sat down inside, the grumpy owner began to stare at us and make negative comments in a passive aggressive manner. We calmly explained that we had been drinking at the pub prior to his arrival, sitting outside. However, the owner did not believe us and had the kind female bartender inform us that only paying customers could watch the game. After recognizing us, she informed the owner. We attempted to show him our receipts, but he did not care and insisted that we continue to purchase drinks in order to watch the game (Euro qualifiers Denmark v Finland). Despite the pub not being busy, he claimed there was a rule stating that drinks had to be bought every 30 minutes to watch the game. Feeling shocked and uncomfortable, we were eventually asked to leave. The bartender, who was very kind, apologized for her boss's behavior as she escorted us out of the pub. Unfortunately, she mentioned that he was not pleasant to anyone, not just us. This was the worst treatment I have ever experienced in a pub. The staff was friendly, but the owner was extremely rude.
The beers were served in plastic cups. When I asked the bartender why, he seemed offended. I have no desire to ever come back to this place.
Warm and welcoming pub with excellent drinks and music. Perfect for hanging out with friends, family, and loved ones.
Good pub, cheap compared to other local pubs, good choice of sport showing most nights. Darts is a bonus if you want to play. Lots of locals and usually quick service.
