Specializing in tapas with an Asian twist and Far Eastern curry dishes, our iconic building offers beautiful views of the river's bridges from the terrace. We also cater for private parties, conferences, and events. Call us for a custom quote and availability! Winner of the Best Restaurant Award 2016 in Tyne and Wear. Last food orders to be placed before 9 pm please. Please note that we only have a restaurant license, so a small food order is required in order to serve alcohol. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Last month I was invited to try the food River Beat and it did not disappoint. The venue is situated on Gateshead’s quayside within a stone’s throw from the Swing Bridge allowing amazing riverside views of Newcastle’s iconic bridges from their beautiful terrace. River Beat specialises in award winning Asian tapas and curries in a quirky setting with relaxed fun vibes. I was lucky enough to try all the below dishes to get a great feel for variety of what they have to offer. The dishes were immense and with so many fresh flavours in each. I still honestly cannot decide which was my favourite! Thai Salmon fish cakes with sweet red chilli jam Tempura soft shelled crab with seaweed singer salad Char Sui Pork with green nasi goreng Malay lamb vindaloo with a dry coconut chutney Thai Jasmine rice Pork Prawn steamed dumplins with schezuan dip Asian spiced lamb with Chinese pancakes River beat offers an extremely enjoyable experience. They have clearly put a lot of effort into perfecting their selection of dishes and creating a great a welcoming environment to ensure you cannot wait for your next visit…my recommendation is to bring as many people with you when you do so you get to try as many dishes as possible !!
Really good Asian fusion tapas with a great atmosphere and music. They some unusual dishes the banana blossom was amazing and the tapas was very reasonably priced. Would absolutely go again. (We didn't have any ourselves but the cocktails looked pretty good too).
Restaurant was very nice with a beautiful location that personal managed to impress us before our show in the wise. we had a nice choice from main and next dishes. the food quality was nice, but very expensive for what it was and we were not 100% satisfied with the servings vs cost. only to clarify, we had not expected that we were stacking food, but it was quite steep. added the additional 10% measurement tip automatically, which was actually 13% was not justified.
From the moment the three of us(family)arrived at Riverbeat Restaurant we were warmly welcomed. The interior of the restaurant is art inspired,spotless, warm and very comfortable seating. The Tapas/Menu and dishes were explained with such knowledge and WOW the food was out of this world. We can honestly say this is the best Asian inspired Tapas/food we have ever eaten. The spice and flavour combinations seemed so unique and cleverly thought out. Well done to the Head of House, Chef’s. Highly recommend! Was the perfect finishing touch following a lovely autumnal day at Beamish. Thanking all staff.
The food here is so good we had to come back. And it didn't disappoint. The Margarita's are fantastic also. Finally, the staff are lovely too.
