it is the second tme after a year we are back here. the same careful and authentic service from the chef and his colleague and not only for us, but for all! eating is easy with very good ingredients and even cheap for portugal. Note that the portions are then normally larger. we love our “constructor” bar because of the different types of people and the Portuguese feeling, we have in tjis square. View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about O Rustico:
The location of the restaurant is great, it is in the middle of the sledge road so you can see the sledges sliding down the hill. However, the food was simply an average, fries were overfried and hard, octopus tasted strange (maybe local reciept but I have not tasted that taste in the rest of the island). On the other hand the portion was quite big. View all feedback.
We were staying in a nearby hotel and ate at the hotel restaurant. The atmosphere was sombre and lifeless and the food was expensive. The next night we saw this place was open so we decided to eat there instead. We hiked up the hill and were given a table straight away out the back in the restaurant area. The staff were polite and understood English. Soon enough more foreigners (Like us turned up) The food was plentiful and tasty and half the price of the hotel's. The atmosphere was also much more lively than the hotel restaurant. We went back the following evening.
A lovely little restaurant tucked away in back streets We were warmly welcomed and treated to a wonderful dinner of stickie pork ribs followed by brownies and ice cream Would thoroughly recommend

The octopus melts in your mouth, the baked potatoes with fried onions are incredibly tasty and beef stake very tasty, very friendly staff an tasty home liqour. High in Funchal , near the road where they go down on the sleigh
Highly recommend this place. Simple, Not touristic but very well-coming. The poncha here is strong and the food tastes like home.
