Feedback
Beancross offers a mixed dining experience that varies from pleasant to disappointing. While many patrons enjoy tasty pub classics like fish pie and steak and ale pie, others lament the slow service and lack of cleanliness. Customers have reported issues such as dirty menus, incorrect orders, and a general inattentiveness from staff more focused on chatting than serving. Though the ambiance is often appreciated, it lacks a vibrant atmosphere. Additionally, accommodations leave much to be desired, with inconsistencies in room quality and amenities. While some enthusiastic diners plan to return, others advise caution based on their experiences.
After crossing the finish line of a charity run, my family and I decided to have lunch at Beancross. We called ahead to make a reservation for 10 adults and 3 children. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the restaurant's ambiance. However, we had to wait a while before being seated as the staff were chatting. The menus we were finally given were dirty and worn out. It took a long time for our drink orders to be taken and even longer for them to be brought to our table. We had to request clean glasses. When we finally placed our food order, there were some mistakes, including my request for brown bread being ignored. The service was slow, and the sandwiches we ordered were disappointing - stale white bread, un-buttered fillings, and incorrect orders. No one checked on us during our meal or offered dessert or more drinks. We even had to ask for the bill. The young staff seemed more interested in chatting than attending to customers. The lack of attention to detail and slow service was disappointing, especially considering the restaurant wasn't busy. We expressed our disappointment to a waiter on our way out, who said he would pass on our feedback. Beancross needs to improve their service and train their staff better. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs.
We enjoyed a delicious Mac and cheese, burger, and steak and ale pie at the restaurant. Each dish was served in generous portions. The service was excellent, with a friendly smile.
We arrived here on 28th July.We had pre booked a superior room at the cost of 216 pounds. My sister also booked a standard room costing 150 pounds.First of all our booking had been cancelled so we had to wait while the staff run about trying to get a room for us then when we eventually got into the room it was a big disappointment. We compared our room to my sisters and not forgetting that we paid an extra 66 pounds, there were more facilities in her room.We had no bidet and no phone and although it wasn't a big problem we were still confused what we paid the extra 66 pounds for. There was meant to be a kingsize and a single bed in our room and all we got was 2 single beds. The remote for the TV was broke and the WiFi didn't work the whole time we were there. It was advertised as bed and breakfast but only found out when we went for breakfast that if we wanted a cooked one we had to pay extra so they used false advertising also. The staff weren't very accommodating either and all looked bored like they didn't want to be there. All in all it was a very disappointing stay and definitely not worth the money.
Average pub grub underwhelming. Chose as beside our hotel. The fact that the place is so devoid of customers speaks for itself. I tried to call to make a booking and it went unanswered and no ability to leave a voicemail. Ended up walking over to reserve a table. Woman was friendly but I had to wait over 5 minutes whilst she served a table their mains as she was obviously the only front of house person working. Meal selection large and waiter friendly but place lacked soul and atmosphere and there were cobwebs visible at our table on the windows. Good for a work gathering or large group maybe but not for a couple
Hadn’t been here for several years but will definitely be back soon. Good range of options on the menu (inc vegan), and were delicious. Good value for money and staff were lovely.
