Nestled near Fair City Mall, Koobala offers a unique blend of Latin American, Mediterranean, and South Pacific cuisines. While many patrons rave about the flavorful chicken and enticing rice bowls, experiences can vary. Some have faced issues like missing rice in their dishes, highlighting the need for improved communication. However, the popularity of the famous fried chicken sandwich and generous portions of yucca have not gone unnoticed. Many guests appreciate the welcoming staff and clean, open kitchen. With its authentic flavors and potential for growth, Koobala is rapidly becoming a favorite among locals.
I was really impressed with the quality of everything at this restaurant. I went with my friends to try their chicken sandwich, and let me tell you, you won't be able to resist coming back for more after you try it. I wish this place all the best and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
We visited this restaurant when it first opened and were not impressed by the food selection. However, we decided to give it another chance. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back. The Latin bowl was delicious with well-balanced seasoning. The fried eggplant was a tasty option for eggplant lovers. The spicy chicken sandwich was decent in taste, but it lacked the expected level of spiciness. The sauce poured over the sandwich made the bread soggy, which is more of a personal preference issue. I plan to try the regular chicken sandwich next time. Overall, the food was not a major concern, and the atmosphere was laid-back.
This place is underrated!!! It was quiet when we came every time. The food was always amazing. It’s warm and very generous portions! The menu is simple and the service was great! I just love this place so much. The rice and chicken are always perfectly cooked!
I was the first visitor late on a Saturday morning a little after opening time for this place. The location was convenient to a movie theater and seemed different than recognizable chain eateries nearby (e.g., McDonalds, Chipotle, Peets Coffee, FirstWatch). Reviews looked positive online, so I decided to try their chicken and a couple of sides before my movie. The persontaking my order was engaged and friendly. The place looked predictably clean for being a first customer of the day. Food wasready within ten minutes and arrived warm to hot as expected and desired. The chicken itself was cooked well and retained alittle juiciness. I chose the Latin flavor option of the three available, and I found the flavor mild and similar to Peri-Periin this respect. The black beans were hot and cooked properly, not over cooked. The cauliflower and eggplant veggies werefreshly fried as expected again for a first customer. The seasoning for the cauliflower was very mild. I could have used alittle salt on the eggplant which otherwise tasted quite fresh and kept its moisture. Sauces added some spice, particularly theorange sauce I enjoyed. The person serving me indicated that they try to prepare and fry food to order without heating lamps andthe like. My food showed this promise well. The total bill amounted to just over $20 including tax, so I felt like I got a goodvalue for my purchase and enjoyed talking with the server for a few minutes after I was done. I could be tempted to return andtry their chicken sandwich and maybe one of the other flavors as well as see whether they fry potatoes as freshly as they dotheir vegetables. I was glad to visit.
I was feeling hungry after a recent shopping trip at Fair City Mall and decided to stop by Chipotle when this place caught my eye. I hadn't heard of it before but the reviews were great so I ordered some lunch to go. The place is clean inside with anopen kitchen area, but it was pretty empty on a Sunday evening. The menu is small and focused which made picking my food easy I chose the Latin rice bowl and ordered a side of yucca. They gave 5 yucca fries in my order I'd prefer a higher price pointwith more fries. They're your standard frozen fries you can buy at the grocery store or restaurant depot, so I felt very mehabout it. It needed some seasoning or sauce. The rice bowl was very underwhelming. I can see how it might be popular with aparticular crowd I won't call out, but the flavor just wasn't there. It has a bed of mushy, overcooked plain white rice, withunseasoned straight from the can black beans and corn, topped with tortilla crisps, a smattering of cheese, and generous portionof chicken which had been sitting out too long and had gotten dry. There's a small drizzle of sauce on top and it comes with aside of sauce that still isn't enough. For $12, it needed more oomph. Definitely did not satisfy the Chipotle craving but youlive and you learn.
