However, I received a call just ONE HOUR before our reservation time to inform me that the kitchen was closed due to a wedding and our booking had been cancelled. I recently hosted my husband's surprise 50th birthday party at City Gate in early July and I cannot praise the entire team, especially Jon, enough! From the moment I made the booking, Jon was always available and very enthusiastic about helping me plan the party exactly how I wanted. He assisted me in selecting the perfect room for the number of guests, showed me all the available food and drink options, and promptly answered any questions I had. On the night of the party, all the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They even wheeled a TV into the room so we could watch the Euros quarter-finals penalties before my husband arrived, ensuring everyone was in the right place at the right time. Our guests complimented the lovely atmosphere, tasty food, and appreciated the ability to control the music volume and use our own music. We utilized The Gallery room, which was fantastic as it was warm and had doors that opened up to a patio area, allowing smokers and non-smokers to mingle together. I highly recommend Jon and City Gate for any party - they are excellent hosts, provide great food, and create a fabulous atmosphere. Thank you so much!
We’ve just had Sunday lunch at the CITY GATE . The young girl Hannah the waitress was very good in every aspect . I must say the roast pork belly all the food was absolutely delicious with decent portions. Can highly recommend

Youngs Brewery Pub, with a fantastic Bistro attached. Had Chicken Liver Paté to start, which was excellent, followed by a gourmet sausage Toad in the Hole for main. The main was the star of the show, and was not only delicious, but was a really generous portion for the price and quality: just what was needed on a rainy autumn day.
