I always love the food from Ume, especially the sweet and sour chicken balls in batter and the crispy beef. I prefer to collect my order instead of opting for delivery, as it allows me to enjoy my food faster. View all feedback.
What lucy s dislikes about Ume:
The hour-long delivery time felt excessive. I reached out after waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes, only to be informed that the advertised hour actually meant an additional 15 minutes. The food was decent but rather bland and not up to par with our previous experiences. I'm really disappointed, as we've enjoyed great meals from here in the past, but tonight fell short. We ordered a delivery on New Year's Eve which was perfect. Delivery was spot on time and the food was great as always. Great service.
We just moved to Claygate and thought we would try this local business. We regularly eat Chinese food and have it at least once most weeks, but this was the worse we have ever experienced. Chow Mein tasting of burnt flavour and black on the bottom. Chicken fried rice that was really boiled rice, with a few chicken chunks and peas thrown in. Salt and pepper ribs that were soggy, undercooked and vile. Hot and spicy soup that was like gravy. We could of lived with the small portions, if it was edible but this was shocking really guys why bother to open if you can’t be bothered to do a proper job. We called and expressed our displeasure but not once did the lady apologies but just tried to insult our intelligence and tell us this is how Chinese food should be ! Such a shame a local business can not do better and be humble enough to apologies when they clearly get it wrong. Suffice to say we won’t be going back and will order better, cheaper from people who want our business on Just Eat.
This is a fairly inexpensive takeaway small restaurant. Portions are not huge. But food good. Nothing hugely exciting but nevertheless good value for money
Still my favourite Chinese restaurant after 18 years. The food is beautifully cooked and presented and we are always greeted warmly by the owner. I think I've had the prawns in butter sauce every time I've been because it's the best thing I've ever tasted. Please don't ever stop doing it because I've never seen it anywhere else! I also recommend the soft shell crab and beef and cashew. Thank you for a lovely evening celebrating my son's birthday. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
