What User dislikes about Misong:
I was really excited to try this sushi restaurant, but I left feeling quite disappointed. The two waitresses were not welcoming at all, making the atmosphere feel uninviting. After we placed our order, they brought out a selection of side dishes, but unfortunately, most of them were inedible. The rice porridge was served cold, and when we mentioned it, the waitress didn't offer an apology; she merely suggested that i... View all feedback.
But there’s more. The main course arrives on a massive plate piled high with various slices of fish, accompanied by another plate of nigiri where the fish generously spills over the rice. Every bite of the sushi and sashimi showcases their mastery with seafood; it’s clear the fish comes from the freshest fishmonger in town. The meal finishes with a bowl of rice topped with baked masago alongside a cup of spicy miso fish stew, both part of the Super Sashimi Sushi set. You might wonder how I managed to eat even more, and I asked myself the same. While the rice was slightly dry, I truly enjoyed the fish stew, which tied everything together and served as a palate cleanser to mark the end of the meal. Though I loved the food and overall experience, I have to deduct a star for the service. The staff is attentive at first but becomes difficult to flag down once the order is placed, even when using the call button. It took 15 minutes just to order sake or get a water refill. They’re quite busy on weekend evenings, so making a reservation is highly recommended. The restaurant’s layout is well-designed for COVID safety, featuring plenty of private dining rooms and a large temperature-checking machine at the entrance. One last note: it can get chilly inside, as they keep the temperature low to preserve the fish’s freshness, so bring a sweater just in case.
We’ve tried many sashimi spots in Georgia, but Misong has quickly become our top choice. Their seafood is exceptionally fresh, and the side dishes are outstanding. The rest of the menu is just as impressive! Every dish is flavorful, and the staff is warm and attentive. From the moment you walk in, it’s clear they truly take pride in their service.
I had lunch at Misong with my partner today and was pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food and the generous portions. Typically, I prefer elaborate rolls and tend to avoid plain sushi due to past disappointing experiences. However, I decided to try the sushi and sashimi lunch special, and it was outstanding. The portions were ample for the price, the fish was expertly sliced, and it was the freshest sushi I've ever enjoyed. My partner chose the chicken teriyaki lunch box and mentioned there could have been more chicken, though I think his comment was more about his dislike of vegetables than the actual dish. I also loved that alongside the Japanese menu, they offered a variety of Korean side dishes. Having lived in Korea for two years, this was a wonderful nostalgic touch. The staff was friendly, and a helpful tip—if you need anything, there are little bells at the table, a common feature in Korean restaurants. I will definitely return if I’m in the area again!
This sushi restaurant is a good option if you're in need of a quick meal. I typically go during lunch and appreciate the sushi and sashimi offered in the udon lunch special, which is quite satisfying. However, if you're looking for a more high-end sushi dining experience, you may want to consider another restaurant. Just be aware that it can become fairly crowded during peak lunch hours, so you may have to wait a bit.
I looked up their hours on Google Maps, which indicated that they close at 11 PM. However, when I called at 9:30 PM, I was informed that they actually close at 10 PM. Despite that, they declined to take my order. The woman I spoke with had difficulty communicating in English and only kept repeating the information about their hours. I was really looking forward to a wonderful experience based on the restaurant’s excellent reviews, but after this initial interaction, I’m unlikely to return.
