The Smugglers Table really is excellent the menu isn't huge, but it's great food well cooked and presented. There's a very friendly atmosphere and the staff are lovely. It's small, so it's always advisable to book a table. We've never been disappointed in our meal here. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about The Smugglers Table:
Dropped into The Smugglers Table this afternoon for a spot of lunch having heard great things about it and wasn’t disappointed. My partner and I ordered the burger and the fish pie. Both dishes were top notch but if you like fish I can’t recommend the fish pie highly enough. Shared a dessert of apple and blackberry crumble with custard. Fantastic! View all feedback.
I haven't tried the food yet, but the parking situation is good and they are dog-friendly in the bar area, which is great. The average price per person is £10-£20. The service and atmosphere both receive a rating of 5. There is plenty of parking available in a free parking lot.

Unfortunately I am giving the lowest mark as they really didn’t deal professionally at all with our issue. The place is welcoming and the waitresses were charming. We both started with a seafood chowder which was pleasant. However, our main course dish was not edible as the halibut was so overcooked, far too dry and rubbery. We both felt exactly the same way and were not prepared to eat an expensive dish that was inedible. We therefore returned the dish and the waitress came back to ask if we wanted something else instead and we ordered a separate dish. A few minutes later, another waitress came and said that the chef is adamant that it is the right way to cook fish, that halibut is a meaty fish and that if we wanted to order something else, we would have to pay for it. Alternatively, they could give us back our (overcooked) halibut. We declined, paid and left. Sadly, the chef never came to our table to discuss the issue and I find it astonishing that an experienced chef would deal with unsatisfied customers in this way and that he wouldn't recognise when a piece of fish is not cooked the right way. I would like to point out that throughout all this, the waitresses were very courteous and apologetic. However, we will know where not to go next time. Price per person: £40–50 Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
After a hectic few weeks, we decided to dine at this restaurant for our Friday night meal. I was disappointed to have missed out on the seafood specials that were featured on their Facebook page, but my spirits were lifted when I tried Chef Roy’s Saddle of Venison special. The meat was tender, the jus was full of flavor, and the potato fondant and local vegetables were cooked to perfection. The dish looked even better in person than in the photograph. Julie mentioned that most of the dishes are gluten-free, as the chef himself is gluten-free, which explains why the sauces and jus on the menu are always so delicious. We ended the meal with homemade desserts and a refreshing cocktail from the bar.
If you live in the area and haven't eaten here, you must be crazy! I traveled from Donaghadee to attend a wedding at The Mill At Ballydugan and decided to book The Smugglers for a meal beforehand. The breads with tapenade and parfait were fantastic starters to share. The Finnebrouge Wagyu Fillet on the specials menu was one of the most perfectly cooked and delicious steaks we have ever had, as was the Sirloin. The pepper sauce was just right, not too overpowering but with the right amount of heat. The chips were excellent too. We shared the Double Chocolate Brownie for dessert, washed down with a wonderful Malbec. Instead of coffee, we opted for a cheeky Bushmills 10. The restaurant followed social distancing guidelines well, with sanitizer on every table and the staff wearing visors, which gave us peace of mind during these difficult times. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience in a lovely setting with great food and excellent staff. I will definitely be looking for an excuse to return.
