Feedback
No. 3 had mixed reviews, with disappointed customers citing food issues and high prices, ambiance and friendly staff getting positive feedback. Some enjoyed vegan options and gluten-free offerings. The atmosphere, antique decor, and friendly staff were highlighted as positives. The overpriced wine, inconsistent food quality, and inexperienced waiting staff were areas of improvement. Despite mixed reviews, many were impressed with the vegan and gluten-free options and overall had a good experience. Customers praised the owner's vegan-friendly attitude and the variety of menu choices. The venue was also recommended for exploring the Boyne Valley and Newgrange.
Visited as 2 couples and got seated in a booth at the front of the restaurant. The service was prompt and very friendly and continued to be excellent throughout our meal, even with a tasting of the slaw before completing the order. We ordered 3 steaks from the fixed menu with various starters and a chicken salad with fries. All the steaks were ordered with different levels of cooking and all were perfectly cooked. My mussel and chorizo starter in a picante sauce was excellent as were the spicy chicken wings. The half ramikin of potato and the single onion ring with the steaks were a bit disappointing. The wine selection is amazing and can take some reading through as I would estimate over 500 different wines. Our glass of house sauvingon blanc and bottle of house rioja were very good. It's nice to see on the menu wine recommendations to accompany each dish. The venue is large but is nicely split into different dining areas inside and out with a tented area at the back which had live music when we visited. The lack of soft furnishings inside does mean that noise carries and we experienced an hour or so when the noise level was so high we had to shout between ourselves to be heard. Overall a very pleasant evening and we will return. 2 courses plus drinks 185e +tip.
Overall having made a 20 minute drive to this restaurant, we were quite disappointed with the food. 3 out of 4 of us were more than disappointed with the starters and main courses. I ordered tandoori prawns which had little flavour and were served on lettuce, making everything just a bit warm and soggy. My main course was cod, which was overcooked and dry and had very little sauce. My friend ordered the jambalaya which was stodgy and overcooked and everthing was served in deep bowls, including lamb shank, making it all just a bit awkward to eat. My husband had the duck which at €33 was a small portion but tasty. The restaurant itself is lovely, good atmosphere, and busy. The staff were friendly, but little details such as not clearing glasses, not lighting candles, made for a quite disappointing experience despite it being a pricey evening. The wine menu is like a yellow pages, almost impossible to go through it all. I hate to say but overall very disappointed with our first and last trip to No. 3
I have had lunch a few times in No 3 Collon. I have tried the tapas which are small but very tasty. I absolutely love their mussels done with chorizo served in cream sauce, always delicious. Unfortunately I was disappointed today. I chose the smoked chicken sandwich. I never expected to receive chicken goujons which made the sandwich very dry. I didn 't state goujons on the menu. I also didn 't realise that Portuguese fries are actually spicy wedges.
The epitome of excellence. I have never found a dining experience where everything was perfection…..until now. No3 is the most beautiful venue for dining whether it be a light snack/lunch or an evening meal. As soon as we entered we knew we were in for something special, the atmosphere was so warm and friendly. We ordered our drinks (try the Limoncello Spritz…thank me later) and our food. Both the early bird menu and A La Carte were available. All 4 of us had different starters and loved each one, I had the chicken wings and guilty as charged I wouldn’t share as they were just too good We all went for the steak options which came with an array of extras ie: Shallot, mushrooms, choice of potatoes and of sauces. I have never in my years in earth had a steak that was so soft, delicious and cooked to absolute perfection. Anytime previously where I’ve asked for well done it’s been so hard you couldn’t enjoy it but not this one. It was melt in the mouth and we all agreed. One had a medium/rate and he loved it too. And the desert menu oh my goodness the selection was unreal!! Settled on Apple Crumble which was served with both vanilla ice cream and a dainty pot of custard. I was ecstatic when I realised there was no cinnamon in it, may sound like a bit odd but it always runs crumble for me so the fact that it was made the proper old way without cinnamon was bliss for me. Plenty of customers coming and going during our time there and a beautiful open area outside with coverage and heat. I simply cannot fault No3 at all, I was sad to be leaving but you can guarantee we’ll be back and have already decided what we’ll be having Huge Thank You to Martina Wayne for making our first visit so amazing.
