We visited a riverside restaurant the other night in Cochem (no names, no pack drill) and were disappointed with the whole culinary experience. Grafen proved otherwise. Just off the main 'drag', we wanted something that (I think) represented good wholesome local food. Not only that, but the house wine was an excellent riesling. We sat on the terrace and, whilst one doesn't not have a river view, don't be sidetracked... View all feedback.

The restaurant surroundings are fairly simple and so is the food but the owners were welcoming and helpful and the food was well cooked. We ate here twice recently as we had been recommended. This place is popular with locals. There is an upstairs terrace used by smokers. Good value.
This restaurant is a 5 minute walk past the tourist area but well worth the time. The locals eat here so you know it's good. Diners walked in and greeted each other by name Good German food and reasonable prices. We ate schnitzel and it was very tasty. Salad came with the meal

We were absolutely blown away by this restaurant. The food was exceptional so if you're looking for traditional local food, this is definitely the place. The schnitzels were amazing, asparagus was cooked just right and the steaks were incredible. They also have very lovely wines...and great dessert! We had the wine pudding and apple strudel, both were exceptional! Great service and very nice atmosphere. The price was very affordable also, we ate here on two evenings and paid around 40e for two main courses, a few glasses of wine and one dessert.
