Feedback
This unpretentious neighborhood restaurant offers a great dining experience with very tasty food, personable service, and reasonable prices. While some may have had issues with incorrect orders or uncomfortable seating due to the heat vent, the overall consensus is positive. Umami stands out with its authentic Japanese cuisine, cool atmosphere, and memorable dining experience. With a large menu, friendly service, and delicious options, Umami is definitely recommended. The Winter Ramen is a favorite among customers, and the Omakase experience at Umai Restaurant has received rave reviews for its food, service, ambiance, and price point. Despite some comments about it being more Americanized than authentic, the quality, portion size, and pricing at Umai make it a popular choice for sushi lovers.
It's the more American type of Japanese. If you have a taste for authentic Japanese food and atmosphere, you might be underwhelmed. I ordered Unagi Don, and I don't really need a decorative flower and types of colorful pickles on it. All I want is hot rice a decent amount of unagi, which was not quite the case. My friend ordered sushi and he says it's ok, but not outstanding
Our server, Ann, was great. She was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. The rest of the staff was also nice, greeting us as we walked in and saying Thank You/good-bye when we left
Delicious food and excellent service. Dined on New Years Eve and loved the ambiance

Umai is so reliable and consistent with their menu items. Not only do they have an excellent selection of fishes to choose from, but they also have great grilled skewers and other warm food items there's something for whatever mood you're in. What we ordered: Nigiri Omakase Set: The omakase comes with a salad and miso soup. Then you get 10 pieces of chef's choice nigiri. My favorite was the eel, and I love the little sweet tamago at the end to wrap up the meal. Spicy Scallop Hand Roll: Extremely good. Cannot believe I didn't discover this any sooner. They are so generous with the amount of scallop in this hand roll; the scallop goes all the way to the last bite of the hand roll. I will come back just for this :
