**Proxi: A Dining Experience Marked by Inconsistency**
Proxi offers a vibrant atmosphere and a promising menu, celebrated for its flavorful small plates and engaging décor, ideal for special nights out. However, recent visits reveal a troubling pattern of inconsistent service and pacing. While many guests praise the culinary creativity and attentiveness of the staff, others recount experiences of slow service and awkward interactions that detracted from the meal. Despite the potential for a delightful dining journey, it appears that Proxi has struggled with maintaining the quality and hospitality customers have come to expect, leaving some diners uncertain about their return.
I have been to Proxi several times before and always left with a positive feeling. However, my most recent visit was quite disappointing. The service was slow and not up to the standards I had experienced on previous visits, and the food and ambiance were lacking as well. The overall vibe was just off. I felt let down—perhaps it was just a bad night for them. However, I likely won’t make an effort to return as I have in the past.
We are huge fans of Proxi. We typically opt for the Chef's Menu, and this time it took us on a journey through Thailand. The variety of dishes in each course was both delightful and delicious. Our server, Ivan, recognized us from our previous visits even before we arrived, which made our evening all the more enjoyable. Ivan was exceptionally knowledgeable, providing insights about each dish and the wine pairings. It was evident that he truly loves his work, which added a special touch to our experience. We want to extend our gratitude to the entire Proxi team for a wonderful evening!
I love the global menu at Proxi and the wine list keeps up nicely. Of everything we ordered about 6 dishes to share among 4 people only one did not exceed expectations (grilled prawns... strange flavor combos). Service is professional and friendly and wines are reasonably priced. Loved returning here and I'll be back!

Had a truly excellent dinner at Proxi. Everything was spot on and some of the best food we’ve had in Chicago. Highly recommend! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $50–100
