A hidden gem in the Bucktown neighborhood, this Chicago restaurant offers delicious Costa Rican cuisine that will have you coming back for more. With a knowledgeable staff providing on-point recommendations, and an alchemist chef creating exquisite flavors, you can expect a great value for your money. Whether you're a vegetarian or a meat lover, there's something for everyone on the menu. Don't miss out on trying the Pepito sandwich with steak or the shrimp ceviche. The colorful decor adds to the vibrant atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot for foodies looking for an authentic and enjoyable dining experience. And don't forget, it's BYOB!.
I had the pork and horchata cafe and let me tell you guys, I'm happy I stopped by. The sweet plantains were so good I had to take an order to go. The porkchops were huge!! I'd suggest eating one and taking the other home for a later snack cause you might be very full.
One of the best restaurants in Chicago! Costa Rican food is my favorite and I will gladly make the trip from the Southside to come here. Get the chicken Casado, you won’t be disappointed!
Freshly made food . The service was nice timing was also great. There’s no alcohol service but you can bring your own bottle for a Pina cola and 2 other flavors that they can give you to mix in a pitcher.
I am a regular customer at Irazu and I often order delivery from them as well. After my recent experiences, I felt compelled to write this review. The front of house staff at the restaurant are consistently rude during my visits, as well as on the phone. A few weeks ago, I had a reservation through OpenTable and needed to make an adjustment. I called the restaurant for help since the app couldn't accommodate my request, but was met with unhelpful and unfriendly service. The same negative experience occurred during my most recent visit, with the host being unpleasant and dismissive. Despite the decent service and delicious food, the consistently unpleasant interactions with the staff have led me to decide to only order delivery from now on. The once favorite BYOB restaurant has unfortunately become a less enjoyable experience for me.
I had a wonderful experience overall! I visited with my sisters and friends to see if this place lived up to its reputation, and we were not let down. We truly enjoyed the oatmeal shake, and all of our food was delicious. Some of us opted for the Casado dish, which turned out to be an excellent choice! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be coming back in the future. The host, a polite gentleman, was attentive and friendly to all the guests.
