Chipp Inn - Chicago
Chipp Inn
Description
Nestled in the West Loop, the Chipp Inn stands as one of Chicago’s oldest bars, having operated since Prohibition in 1923. Recently, the venue was shaken by a robbery that held patrons and the bartender at gunpoint, igniting community concerns yet sparking a resilient spirit among its loyal clientele. Despite some unfortunate experiences with service and remarks reflecting bias, many patrons praise the friendly, laid-back atmosphere, affordable drinks, and the charm of playing pool. For those seeking a unique dive bar experience off the beaten path, the Chipp Inn remains a hidden treasure worth exploring.

Best place ever. Went into the area for laundry. Ended up at this bar and it was the best find of my stay in Chicago. Owner was friendly. The locals was friendly as well. I just wanted to say thank you for the good memories.
This historic bar, which has been open for 100 years, was recently the target of a robbery on September 17, 2023. The thieves held up the bartender and customers at gunpoint, robbing about 10 people inside. Unfortunately, no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. It's a shame that such a venerable bar, which first opened during Prohibition in 1923, was targeted in this way. Despite the robbery, I would still love to visit and experience the history of this establishment.
This restaurant is a fantastic spot for friends in the West Loop to gather and play pool. Tina is a wonderful host, and customers love treating their guests to drinks at the bar. It's a popular hangout spot for the International Business Builders of Chicago.
One of my favorite bars I’ve been to in Chicago feels homey, great drink specials, pool table. What more could you ask for! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $1–10
