**Aba: A Culinary Gem in Fulton Market** Nestled in the vibrant Fulton Market area, Aba offers a charming atmosphere with stunning views, making it an ideal spot for both romantic evenings and casual gatherings. While many diners rave about the delectable dishes—especially the short rib hummus and pistachio cake—others found some offerings less impressive, like the lamb chops. The service is generally welcoming and attentive, with a comfortable noise level even during busy times. Despite mixed reviews on certain meals, Aba's beautiful design, outdoor seating, and lively ambiance ensure a memorable dining experience worthy of a visit. Reservations are recommended, particularly for larger groups.
As anticipated, Aba was stunning, featuring an indoor-outdoor layout that's ideal for summer dining. We enjoyed the Smoky Garlic Hummus, Whipped Feta, Green Falafel, and Brussels Sprouts for our meal, all of which were delicious and great for sharing. For drinks, we ordered the One for the Road mocktail. Our waitress was fantastic and apologetic, but the overall service was quite slow. We were still without a table 15 minutes after our reservation time, and the hostess couldn't provide any estimate on when one would be available. Eventually, we ended up on a couch, which was fine, but it left us wondering about the purpose of making a reservation in the first place. Overall, the ambiance was incredible and the food was tasty, but the service left something to be desired.
We had been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for a long time, given its excellent reviews. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was impressive. However, we were disappointed with the food. The Grilled Chicken Kebab plate seemed to be lacking in flavor, and the kebabs were tough, chewy, and dry. The Chicken Kefta plates were similar in quality. I have to believe this isn't representative of the restaurant's usual offerings, considering the many positive reviews. Unfortunately, my impression is based solely on our experience today.
After waiting three weeks for a reservation, I found the experience to be quite overrated. Our table had a lovely view of the Willis Tower, which was a nice touch. We ordered the whipped feta with naan, Brussels sprouts, crispy potatoes, halibut, and lamb chops. Everything was good except for the lamb chops. I honestly don’t believe this restaurant is worth a three-week wait. There are plenty of other places in Chicago that offer more authentic flavors in a pleasant atmosphere. Just my two cents!
I was introduced to Aba through Chicago Restaurant Week 2026. The service was very warm and engaging. I enjoyed everything I ordered and the setting was beautiful. We sat on the heated, covered balcony. This was absolutely beautiful with the snowy backdrop. I can't wait to be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
