Feedback
Salt Bar in Cardiff Bay offers a prime location but struggles with cleanliness and service quality. While some visitors praise the food and atmosphere, others complain of small portion sizes, lack of cleanliness, and rude staff. However, some guests had positive experiences, with excellent service from staff members like Lauren and delicious meals, making them eager to return. Inconsistent reviews make Salt Bar a mixed bag, with some recommending it for a family meal or cocktails, while others warn potential patrons to manage their expectations. Plan your visit accordingly to ensure a pleasant dining experience at Salt Bar.
Had a great night our, the decor is really nice. Michelle deserves a shout, she was a great server and very friendly.
All very well set out re covid rules. Drinks needed to be ordered via app on your phone. Good range of drinks at good prices.
Five of us had Sunday roast. Disappointing, though the cauliflower cheese was excellent (but cost a pound extra). Four small BAKED potatoes, officially roast but they hadn't seen any oil. Lamb was good and gravy but the rest was boring and just adequate. Staff were friendly and efficient.
This is the second time I visited Salt in Cardiff Bay. The first time I had burgers and fries with a beer. It was acceptable but nothing special. The price was around 10 pounds so reasonable. I saw a barbecue grill dish and thought about giving it another chance. So when friends visited, we tried it. First of all, the atmosphere was far from good. It was cold inside, not very busy, maybe this was a red flag. Anyway, we ordered the barbecue dish and waited about 30 minutes. Instead of a rare steak, the steak was more well done. Okay, this can happen, but this was just the tip of the iceberg. The meat was accompanied by something like 9 fries, not really delicious or nutritious. Furthermore, the pork was the worst. It was dry, I never saw anything like salt, pepper, herbs, or a sauce. The best part of the meal was the fried egg, something you can't ruin. . . I could go on about the bad experience, but this should be enough.
I went here with a group of coworkers. I ordered vegetarian tacos. I was told that the guacamole had not been frozen. The tacos were straight out of the package and not heated. For dessert, we were told they did not have cream or ice cream, but the waitress came back out and said they only had canned whipped cream. The sticky toffee pudding was overcooked. I hate giving bad reviews, but I would not come back here for food, maybe just for drinks.
