La Marea offers a mix of positive and negative reviews from customers who have experienced the restaurant. While the food is consistently praised for its quality and unique flavors, some diners have noted issues with the noise level, service speed, and slight inconsistencies in the food. Overall, La Marea seems to offer a delicious menu with Canadian-inspired dishes that will leave patrons satisfied and eager to return for another visit.
Service was excellent as it always is when we dine at Klein and Harris. We love our experience because their servers are extremely attentive and knowledgeable on each dish. Every bite stirs up different tastes and sensations. General Manager Christina is extremely approachable and ready...with stories and insights on each of their dishes, which also has an extremely loyal following, hence a change in any item on the menu must be carefully considered. Looking forward to our next dining experience at K H!
My group of had only one evening in Calgary on our way to Yellowknife, and we were glad we chose Klein and Harris for dinner. They were very gracious and accommodating when one of our group was late due to flight delays. Everyone enjoyed...their meals, I had the spicy beef stir fry and a Tiki cocktail. The slightly spicy finish on the cocktail was great.
I have heard and read a lot of good things about Klein and Harris. So, one cold January day before a Theater Calgary performance, we decided that we needed to try it out. We had made reservations and were promptly lead to our table right...opposite the open kitchen so we could see all of the cooking action. We ordered our drinks (coffee for me and a Sazerac cocktail for my wife). My first quibble was the Sazerac... the authentic version should be made with Sazerac rye, which I know is available in Calgary (for example at Willow Park Liquor Store), but this one was made with bourbon. So, good, but not authentic, and at the prices they charge, Klein could use the real stuff. I decided to have two appetizers as my meal (the grilled Humbolt squid and the diver scallops) and my wife ordered the duck breast, which was described as shredded, but came as a complete breast. The squid was excellent, perfectly cooked with some green stuff on the side, but was a very small portion with only one tentacle a bit longer than my index finger. The scallops ere very good, as well, but I thought that for scallops was a bit much. My wife's duck came pink inside and was very tough and hard to cut, a disappointment to her when she was expecting something different. I also had to ask times for a coffee refill before finally getting it. So, overall pretty good food, spotty service and a difficult choice for me between and stars, but I finally went with due to the quality of my appetizer plates.
Had a double date here for their happy hour before a Flames game and overall thought it was just alright. Service was pretty slow, despite it not being a full house. Tried the roasted carrots and mixed vegetables and was honestly extremely disappointed, they felt under-seasoned, as if we were just eating boiled vegetables. Was genuinely impressed by the pork bites, chicken legs, and meatballs. Really good portion sizes, and each had a unique taste that complemented the sauce it was paired with. The haddock in the sandwich was sooooooo salty, we didn’t finish this dish. Obviously, we had somewhere to be and didn’t want to return something we had already cut into four pieces. Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant, but if they can't even nail their happy hour items, I'm hesitant to pay a premium price for their main menu. The food is stunning. Even my parents who have an Asian appetite enjoyed the dishes. We appreciate the delicate service and the relaxing ambiance. The service here deserves a six out of five! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
