Our son and daughter-in-law recommended that we eat here (with them) and we were not disappointed. Our daughter-in-law had the Souvlaki Chicken Filet; our son that the Zeus Chicken; my wife had the Slow Cooked Leg of Lamb and I had the Moussaka. We all split a Saganaki starter. We thought we would go back to an old favourite. The Broken Plate in Willowpark. Our server was good but over bearing. I like attentive but over zealous is not necessary. We had drinks. I ordered an Old Fashioned. Way too sweet. The wine with dinner was expensive. $18 for a 9 oz. glass of house red??? I had Zeus Chicken. Chicken was over salted, 2 carrots, 2 broccoli, 5 pieces of Lemon Potatoes. Not much lemon flavou... View all feedback.
We came to Broken Plate in willow park for a casual dinner. The service and the food is just average with no reason for a return visit.
Broken Plate is a high quality restaurant, conveniently located on Macleod Trail in south Calgary. We were headed for a nearby restaurant, but there was a big lineup, it being their Tuesday Pasta Special night, which we had forgotten about. Lineups aren't for us, so we walked to the Broken Plate, and to our surprise, they were having $12 pasta night too! Yay! Our pastas were delicious, especially the ones with mussels. The calamari appetizer was an great bite for the 4 of us. Our server was very friendly, but maybe a bit inexperienced. One of us had ordered the squash pasta, but got mussels instead, which she accepted and was very happy she did. The food is great here anytime, but what a bonus to have a break on the wallet for $12 pasta night on Tuesday!
Been there twice and both times my expectations were exceeded on very professional service from ALL staff encountered. Food just perfect: from timing, portion size, temperature and most importantly, exquisite flavour in all courses. Favourite is moussaka -done best I've ever eaten. Normally my critiques NEVER are worthy of 5 stars, but this location of Broken Plate deserves accolades. Obviously well managed.
I had a wonderful time at our belated Valentine's Day dinner date. The entire experience was exceptional from beginning to end. Our Asian waiter, whose name I unfortunately can't recall, was fantastic and very courteous, taking the time to explain the menu to me and providing excellent service. I will definitely be returning sometime soon to try out more of the dishes. Thank you!
First time to this restaurant from Medicine Hat. We were greeted with a friendly smile and the food was amazing. You must visit as it is a true taste of Greek food.
