Tucked away in Bay Ridge, this Dominican-Puerto Rican restaurant boasts generous portions and flavorful dishes that have captured the hearts of many. Enthusiastic patrons rave about the rotisserie chicken and classic staples like mangu, sweet plantains, and sancocho. While the interior may lack charm, the culinary offerings make it a popular choice for takeout. Although some diners experienced inconsistency in service and occasionally noted uninvited pests, the overall consensus celebrates the rich flavors and affordability. What Edgar “Bones” Ortiz dislikes about El Malećon:
One thing is certain - it doesn't seem like the food is being rotated at this restaurant. I went with my family and ordered stewed chicken and yellow rice, rotisserie chicken and yellow rice, and shrimp pasta. Unfortunately, we all ended up with upset stomachs later on. The experience was so disappointing, it even prompted my mother to cook the same dishes at home because the ones at the restaurant were not good. The... View all feedback.
I highly recommend trying the delicious Dominican cuisine at this Bay Ridge restaurant. The portions are generous, especially the rotisserie chicken combo which can easily feed four people. The pernil is also very flavorful, be sure to request it without any fat. The mangu combo, specifically the 3 golpes, is another tasty option. While the restaurant's interior is a bit outdated and dark, I prefer ordering delivery over dining in.

We had meatballs, moro rice (green peas and rice), russian salad, fried ripe plantain...and it turned out to be BEST DOMICAN FOOD ever!!!!
The waitstaff are hardworking, especially on busy days when they have a large number of customers. The food is absolutely delicious! However, I encourage you to make it a practice to cook at home most of the time, incorporating a variety of greens for your health!
