So I know this review is going to be different than a majority of the other reviews here. This was our first time here and we had extremely high expectations as it was highly recommended by a long time Boulder resident. When we first walked in we thought the atmosphere and decor was absolutely charming. Our waiter, Joe was super kind, cool, and funny. He called the accent of the other waiter, douchy which cracked us up because it was. this added to Joe’s credibility and very relatable personality. My appetizer of gnocchi with white Ragu was absolutely delicious and I would go back for it. However, my entrée had so many issues with it I was shocked it came from the same kitchen. Practically raw carrots that were supposed to be roasted. Unseasoned, assorted vegetables. The salmon itself was cooked perfectly, however. My boyfriend ordered quail, stuffed with lamb sausage, and it was very very dry. The assortment of vegetables that came on his plate were similar to mine. Some undercooked, some under-seasoned, and all of them fairly boring. My dessert was a hard tart shell filled with raspberry custard that was seedy and overly sweet topped with a passion fruit mousse type thing that was lacking flavor on all levels. My boyfriend thought his chocolate dessert was OK however. Our bill with wine and gratuity was $300 and it was definitely not worth it. However, the idea that this restaurant grows all of its own produce, and some of its meat on its own farm is really cool!
Loved this place. It was so cozy. The food was great and comforting. Service was spot on.
Unfortunately, the $68 prix fixe menu is the only option here. I would prefer to choose which courses I want. Appetizers and entrees were good but desserts were dry, dense and overly sweet. Bread was dry. Stemware was awkwardly oversized. The room was cold. Supporting local farms is important when I consider where to spend my limited restaurant dollars. I appreciate the quality of the ingredients but was underwhelmed with the value of a meal that cost over $100 per person.
