A recent review of a Thai restaurant highlights a mix of positive and negative experiences. Some customers were impressed by the delicious and well-executed Thai food, recommending popular dishes like pad se ew and pad Thai. They also praised the attentive service and variety of menu options. However, others expressed dissatisfaction with the food quality and service. One customer felt insulted by the hostess' comment regarding tipping, while another vowed to inform others about the rude customer service they received. Despite these mixed reviews, many customers appreciated the cozy atmosphere, generous portions, and reasonable prices at this Boston eatery. Overall, the restaurant seems to cater to both spicy food lovers and those seeking a quiet spot for a good meal.
What C likes about Thai Basil:
I ordered the Chicken Gra Pow (Minced grounded chicken meat) with basil and peppers *spicy dish*. I also ordered the Drunken Noodle (with chicken) *spicy dish*. I enjoy eating spicy dishes so these two are my regular dishes that I go to. The Pad Thai is also very good here, too. It seems like a small family owned business and it’s been on Newbury St. for some time. I recommend this spot! View all feedback.
What Clair Greenfelder doesn't like about Thai Basil:
The curry puffs seemed frozen and fried way too hard, the cucumber sauce too mild. The shrimp shumai are standard and were probably my favorite item. The pad kee mao with crispy chicken was ok, baby corn is always a red flag in the dish for me. The sauce on the noodles was very mild, a running theme for a cuisine that's full of bold and contrasting flavors. The dish also came with a side of sweet chili sauce instead... View all feedback.
