Food was good. However, there wasn't a lunch special. Also, when booking, only and time was available. We were the only party in the restaurant for our entire meal View all feedback.

We had reservations and we were seated in the dining room and while there were a few tables it was not packed. After waiting minutes with no one stopping by with menus, water, etc we flagged someone down and they brought over menus. After plus mins with no one coming to bring water or ask us for a drink order we got up and left. The wait staff seemed disinterested and there was also a strange smell in the restaurant... Oscars is amazing. The food is melt in your mouth fabulous. Everything is fresh and flavorful. The menu is interesting and varied.
For a sophisticated elegant restaurant the food was very easy. Scallops arrived at room temperature and had to be sent back. Fish meal was a dish of fish without vegetables or decoration / accompaniment on plate. Chocolate cake was a thin piece of cake with nothing to improve – no twists of chocolate sauce, no puppet whips or ice cream. It didn't seem like the restaurant was very well maintained to impress customers like the last case. However, the restaurant was good at meeting requests for food modifications. There were no doubts about these factors – too bad because it was a shining jewel in Rockland.
That was our first visit to Oscar and it won't be our last. We went to the restaurant week on Thursday night. It was not overcrowded and so the noise level was really low (always a plus). The service staff was incredibly attentive, friendly and professional. The food was wonderful. We ordered the Restaurant Week menu: pappardalle with shrimp and lobster as main course, a seafood elanada and scallops packed in Prosciutto as appetizers and Tiramisu and Cannoli for dessert. All excellent decisions.
We absolutely adore this restaurant, it's one of our favorites. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Oscar, the chef, is particularly friendly and attentive when it comes to the food. We've been coming here for years now.
Oscars is our “go to” restaurant along with Fontanella in Tappan. But this review is for Oscars. He has exquisitely prepared food. My wife and I have been coming here for years. You cannot get better quality veal anywhere! His veal francese is so good. Get it with a side of linguini with garlic and oil al dente and you will be in heaven. He also has home made potato croquettes that are the best and you don’t see them most places. Daniel is his main waiter and he knows how to treat you right. Honestly, the dining room needs and update to make it more intimate but we don’t care when we are looking for a great meal. If you like seafood try his Shrimp Bianco over a bed of linguine. Awesome. His baked clams are always fresh and small the way like them. Can’t say enough about this place. Again, if you are looking for a low lit intimate dining place you won’t find it here but good food and nice martinis is the ticket for me!
