We were pleasantly surprised by Delmares, a restaurant overlooking the beach in Bicheno. It was a busy evening as everything else, including the pub, was closed for dinner. Eventually choosing something that seemed somewhat appetizing, I remarked to my companion that I would prefer eating elsewhere rather than spending $150 here. After being ignored by the waitress for about 10 minutes, we decided to take that as our cue to leave. It turned out to be the best decision we made all evening!
The service at this restaurant is amazing, with a really nice staff. The carpaccio is good (try the coppa one for a change), the pizza is delicious, and the tiramisu is lovely. Everything is served quickly.

After dinner, we took a stroll on the beach to watch the penguins returning to their nests after a day of fishing.
