Despite some mixed reviews from customers about the overall quality of their food and service, Picante continues to be a popular spot among locals. While some have had less than stellar experiences, others rave about the family-friendly atmosphere, top-notch food quality, and friendly staff. The restaurant offers a variety of Mexican delights such as fish tacos, quesadillas, carnitas, freshly made tortillas, and their famous chips and guacamole. Customers can enjoy curbside pickup or dine in the makeshift outdoor space, which some have found less than ideal due to heating issues and excessive plastic waste. Although there are some minor criticisms like limited vegetarian and vegan options, burnt chips, and small portions, many customers still return for the high-quality Mexican cuisine that Picante is known for.
Fast food customer service and quality for moderate/high restaurant prices. The vegetarian menu is okay (about 1/3 the size of the regular menu) but the vegan menu is about 1/4 of the vegetarian menu. Super limited choices with only limited ingredient plates. Burnt chips, $1.55 for 2tbs guacamole, and overcooked tamales to the point of being too hard to chew. This was my last 2 dining experiences here.
Beautiful interior and ample outdoor seating. They have a separate vegetarian menu. Huge portions! Handmade corn tortillas machine press)with flour tortillas also available. Re-fried beans have lard : Very fresh salads. Not cheap, but reasonable for what you get.
This place is a family favorite. I remember when the kids were much younger and they would watch the fresh tortillas being made. They would then run to the table with fresh samples. Now we come back for their favorite beans and rice, my wife with the floutas, and my carnitas plate. Did I mention the awesome roasted peppers hot sauce?

We've known this place for many years, and don't know what happened to it after the renovations. Last time, it was very loud and the food was soso. Today we gave it another try and ordered Huevos Rancheros. The lousiest plate everrrr. Couple of tortillas, two eggs buried under salsa and a scoop of black beans. Oh, and a scratch of crumbled queso. That's it! I know that we're spoiled when going to Puerto Vallarta but comooooonnn. No avocado, rice, jalapeños, pico de gallo or even a little chopped lettuce?? At $35.00 with 1[one] coke?? Kiss my business goodbye Picante ! Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
