**Discovering Muraccis: A Mixed Bag of Japanese Curry Experiences** Muraccis offers a unique take on Japanese curry that garners both praise and critique from diners. While some dishes, like the crispy karaage and homemade curry, evoke authentic flavors reminiscent of Japan, others fall short with less satisfying elements such as soggy katsu and watery sauce. The restaurant's ambiance and attentive service shine through, although some diners note poor treatment of students. Menu highlights include flavorful curries, though customization with veggies is recommended for added texture. Overall, Muraccis is a solid choice for curry cravings, but expectations should be managed to fully enjoy the experience.
We were so lucky to have gotten seats before the crowd came for dinner, we stopped by on a week night during the week around 630pm and it was greatService was slow because they had a large group take away order. But overall, the wait was worth it! I've been wanting curry for sometime. I was skeptical about eating salmon with curry because it isn't common, however, I was significantly pleased that the salmon wasn't dry it was cooked to perfection, didn't taste fishy in my opinion. The brown rice was also cooked well. There is street parking parking structure on Channing. Also, if you're concerned medium isn't very spicy. Overall, if you're craving Japanese curry, I'd recommend that!
I'm making this review in comparison with CoCo Ichibanya, the most popular Japanese chain which I'm sure everyone has tried if they like this style curry rice. The katsu (Japanese fried pork) was not crispy. That's literally the only thing you have to get down to make this part good. You don't even need a high-quality cut of pork or chicken. The rice was fine, just the typical short-grain white rice. The sauce was completely meh! The added spiciness tasted like cayenne pepper. The sauce was extremely watery and not sweet at all (one of the primary differences between this and South Asian curries is that they add fruit like apples in to sweeten it).I will not be back.
If you 'd like veggies potatoes in your curry as it is traditionally served, make sure to add them to your curry order. They 're additions and will arrive in your curry delicious!Side note: When I ordered this I was afraid they would be on the side and wouldn 't have that cooked in curry flavor and I was totally wrong!
Had the Japanese curry — quick service and solid flavor. The price was fair, though the protein portion was smaller than I expected. Still, it hit the spot and made for a satisfying meal. Great option if you’re looking for something tasty and fast. Hopefully that's a one off. I'll definitely come and try this place again. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
