Was LB at Momo Masala a mag?
Nestled in a somewhat overlooked food court on the north side of campus, Momos is truly a hidden gem. I'm not sure how I missed this place before, but I was in the mood for some dumplings and a bit of spice. The prices are a bit on the high side (I would gladly opt for a smaller portion at lunchtime, especially on a student budget), but the portions are generous, and the staff really steal the spotlight. What Sneha Poddar dislikes about Momo Masala:
Ordered steamed veggie and chicken momos. It was very really bad. Tasteless and gave my friend stomach ache after eating chicken momos. Sauce is very bland. Not sure why it’s rated so high. Waste of money. View all feedback.
A wonderfully friendly family-owned restaurant with delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere.
I always have a fantastic experience at Momo Masalas. This hidden gem consistently wowed me with its amazing flavors and excellent service. Every dish is like a work of art, showcasing the chef's talent and commitment. I highly recommend it!
Lamb Korma is delicious. I don't care if you don't like Indian food, you need a plate of this stuff, ASAP. Basically, it is a nut and cream infused curry dish seasoned with a mixture of spices. A half dozen morsels of braised lamb rest in the curry. It's meaty, spicy, savory, and absolutely perfect with rice. Momo's particular take on the dish is not as polished as many other restaurant's. Theirs is less nutty than many other versions, and the lamb is more often tough than tender. Though Momo Masala might not be the top choice in the Bay Area for this succulent dish, it's one of the few Berkeley establishments that offers a passable version. 15 Jan, 2015 Chicken Tikka Masala. I really enjoy Tikka Masala, and Momo Masala makes a pretty good one. Though the portion is small for the price $11), the dish packs a punch. It is spicy, creamy, and filling. A serving of white basmati rice accompanies the tin bowl of Masala, giving a base for the thick curry. Momo's sauce is smooth and well crafted, but a little too rich for the chicken, which struggles to stand out. The chicken itself is pretty dry and seemingly rationed by the kitchen; only five pieces come with each order. There aren't many better plates of Tikka in the area, though, so Momo is a routine stop for me. 03 Nov, 2014 Momo Masala Indian/Himalayan). Indian food is a huge hit in the city of Berkeley. Dozens of cheap, quality stops line streets like Shattuck, College, Telegraph, Durant, and University. Lesser known Hearst has its spots too, and Momo Masala is the headliner. Solid food, killer service, and a laid back atmosphere help this place retain its title as best South Asian North of the Campanile. Most customers come between the hours of Noon and 3, when a buffet lines one wall of the tiny establishment it is pay by weight of food, not person, making it more of a limited menu rather than a buffet). Some stick around for nighttime, when fresh curries and succulent appetizers flow from the tiny kitchen. My personal favorites, the Chicken Makhan and Lamb Korma, cost less than $10 each and come with a side of steamed basmati rice. When paired with Naan or the lesser known Tibetan bread Tingmo, either of these dishes makes for a delicious dinner. Unfortunately, I don't believe I will be returning here anymore, regardless of the food and service, due to certain cleanliness issues that I will not detail online. Satisfying in many ways, but questionable in others, Momo Masala retains a like and high rating but loses a customer. Rating: 6.1/10
