Malcolm's restaurant at The Birches Inn in Ben Eoin, Nova Scotia, offers a cozy dining room with picturesque views. The small menu features appealing choices like lamb and halibut, expertly prepared with a side of divine seafood risotto. The knowledgeable staff provide excellent service and local recommendations. While pricey, this hidden gem is worth splurging on for a special occasion. Guests can enjoy cocktails, escargot, and tasty entrees like perfectly cooked lamb or halibut. This restaurant is part of the hotel we spent 2 nights in. It's a small hotel with a dozen rooms. The restaurant is smiling. the room is bright and the tables are well spaced. The menu has many dishes. We opted for lobster and angus beef, both delicious! the wine was also quite satisfying. A very good table!
Only question would be on the sauce served with the duck. Neither I or my spouse enjoyed. Halibut was an A- experience, very tasty. Wines by he glass were nice. Lovely setting. Good service.
I guess when you only have one option for fine dining, you play whatever and suck it up. The food was so-so, the chicken and pork dishes we had were both under cooked. The service was very, very good however.
We visited The Birches and dined at their restaurant, Malcolm's. We were seated at a lovely table by the window. We began with cocktails and I ordered escargot in mushroom caps, while my partner had soup. The dishes were served hot and delicious. For my main course, I had the perfectly cooked medium lamb. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, especially the chocolate served with coffee. I mentioned my love for chocolate, so they made sure to have a glass of truffle waiting for me when we finished our meal.
