The staff at the counter need to improve their customer service. Hopefully, the owner will take notice of this. Barbara, who works there, is very sweet, like cake. However, as a black woman, I must point out that not all black women are there to serve others. The staff at the counter should provide friendlier service, which may explain why the restaurant was completely empty when I visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon around 4pm. I purchased 3-4 slices of French vanilla cake (which was delicious, by the way) and when one of them fell out of the glass display, I asked who did it, but the woman there simply shrugged and said nothing. She was rude and sarcastic, and her attitude did not match the excellent service my family and I had experienced on previous visits. Despite this, I will still come back, but I hope that this woman will be off-duty when I return. Shake my head.
BJ's Soulful Restaurant has been a beloved and iconic establishment in the Mid-Hudson Valley for many years. Dining here is a truly delightful experience in a cozy atmosphere. My only critique would be to use less salt in their dishes. They definitely deserve six stars for their dedication to weathering economic challenges and keeping their doors open for their loyal customers. Thank you.
This restaurant is fantastic, with delicious fish and chips. The chef, who is 82 years old, is still going strong. Plus, they offer free coffee.
The food is very good.I don't know why they don't give you corn bread with the meal?? You have to pay additional if you want it.
This is one of those old school throwback soul food restaurant.This is the best soul food in orange county.
