What Lydia Blaser dislikes about Afrolicious:
I am very happy, but unfortunately not yesterday. the prices rose and the performance is no longer equal. eating was cold, supplementing injeras were only all sharp an salad that did not fit. very bad! View all feedback.
20 minutes for a handful of fried plantain. In the meantime I got 3 full menus from other stands. Smile is not part of the “service” either.
Every time I come to Basel for work, this is always my first dinner. Great injera plates! Ask for some hot sauce if you'd like some heat.
This place serves Ethiopian food, which, in my opinion and experience, I don't find authentic. The presentation and flavors were okay, but they didn't transport me to the real Ethiopian flavors, This felt like an attempt to remove the authenticity and disregard the origins of the dishes in order to appeal to Swiss tastes, while denying them of the real flavors of the Ethiopian amazing cuisine. The injera bread was very small, maybe enough for 10% of the dishes, which I found kind of ridiculous. I have never experienced such a small amount of it and the way it was presented. The dishes were lightly seasoned and lacquered. Overall, this experience didn’t give me the feeling of being in Ethiopia and having authentic food. The price is way too high for the amount of dishes offered. It's overrated and overpriced. I would not recommend it if you’re looking for authentic Ethiopian food. Rich dishes, dynamic and pleasant service. I have loved African cuisine ever since I ate at AfroLicious. And the staff is TOP. I recommend
