We stumbled on this place when looking for somewhere 'a few streets back '. We had delicious cheese onion crumble tart with a lovely mixed salad. Despite the huge slice of tart, a couple of wedges of cheese were included. Washed down by nice wine by the glass and friendly service. Perfect for lunch outside on a warm afternoon. After reading the reviews I thought, "why not". We were in the neighborhood. It was 2:30 pm and hot. We sat outside. I ordered the chicken salad, reviewers said it was Hugh. I ask the waiter if we could split it and he said, "no". Ok there. He said my husband could sit there if he ordered the smallest thing, "dessert". So he ordered dessert, almond raspberry cake and me, the chicken salad. His cake came with a spoon the size of a serving spoon. I ask if he could have a fork and the waiter said, "no".Here's the rundown. Simple food. The chicken salad was mostly pre-made with cold lentils, cold baked potato,cold rice, cold hard boiled egg, cold salad greens, cold breads The 5, 1/4 by 3 inch chicken strips were deep fried. The cake was wonderful and huge. I would never eat here again. The waiter was sour and rigid. Really...one can't share & really...cake must be eaten with a serving spoon? Oh and one more very important thing THEY DON'T TAKE Credit cards! No where is that stated. Not on the door and not on the table and not on the menu
Feels like a small English territory. Food is great, portions are good. Service is fine, in a very cosy and traditional atmosphere.
Very English and pretty, nice place for a quiet chat. It's not cheap but the servings are huge. Well-placed not far from Palais des Papes but it's a bit sombre and they won't serve near closing time.
After a long day of walking, we discovered that most restaurants had closed for lunch. I suspect Simple Simon was also scheduled to be closed. But that didn’t prevent the manager/owner from being welcoming and hospitable. We weren’t prepared for the cool weather so, in addition to being tired and hungry, we were chilled to the bone. The warm hospitality at Simple Simon was just what we needed. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Save room for dessert the ones that we had were divine! We highly recommend Simple Simon.
