Eating was decent, but my god. the management seems a little worse, I think his name was michael? I saw him constantly screaming at the hired ones, looking like they were almost crying. that is not a first-class, perfectionist restaurant, that is a small diner, there is no need to treat their employees on this wise. I do not support companies that treat their employees that they are bad.
Although the shop front is deceiving, I wanted to say thank you to staff for respecting my friend and I's face mask exemptions, and for serving the absolute best fish and chips in the Illawarra :
We gave up on the long queues outside of the larger hotels etc. and tried this small eatery for the first time. Are we glad that we did!!The fish tacos were really scrumptious as was the fresh flat head and chips. The salads were well dressed and tasty with a number of ingredients. The tacos were nicely warmed.Service was pretty quick considering the number of clients in the early Sunday afternoon.Seats are available inside and outside.
I ordered the seafood basket at Shells restaurant and it was fantastic. The chips were crispy and perfectly salted, the calamari and prawns had the best breadcrumbs, and the lightly battered fish bites were excellent. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. I can't find any faults with Shells. There are some nice seating options at Austinmer beach across the road for enjoying the view while eating, as well as picnic tables at the northern end for relaxing with family and friends.
