The atmosphere here is completely different from the one that used to be on Barton Springs. The space is airy with high ceilings and a modern design. They’re marketing themselves as more than just a coffee shop, featuring a full kitchen and menu. When I visited, I was the only one there just for coffee; everyone else was ordering food. The location feels a bit remote to me, surrounded by warehouses and offices, and there's not much else nearby, though it’s only a 10-minute drive from the south terminal of the airport. One odd thing is that they close at 3 PM on weekends, which I assume is because it's somewhat isolated. Maybe they’ll extend their hours if there’s enough demand? Their hours are Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday to Sunday from 8 AM to 3 PM.
The vibe of this coffee shop is definitely a lounge where you can take a break from the offices around the area. But the food is really a lot more cozy than just cafeteria food. I love their breakfast tacos and pancakes. They also have a beer and wine selection for a weekend stop or an after work wait out the traffic vibe.
This Austin Java is situated in a food desert, so the options in the area are quite limited. I visited for the first time and overall, I was satisfied with my experience. I'd like to give this place another shot, but I was disappointed that they used the last piece of bread for my sandwich. Since it was on the bottom, my wife didn’t notice it until she was nearly done. This seemed careless on the kitchen's part.
Staff is polite and they work pretty quick. Food is good. They have a reward system in which you spend, I think $100 and get a free meal on your next visit. Plenty of parking. They could use more indoor seating but you can eat outside too.
