We had a nice dinner here. the restaurant was not overly busy on a week night. the menu was somewhat limited; we were told the lasagne on the menu was not avail... read more We had a nice dinner here. the restaurant was not overly busy on a week night. the menu was somewhat limited; we were told the lasagne on the menu was not available. in any case we had excellent appetizer salads that came in generous...Bowls I had the gnocchi, and while it was perhaps not the best I ever had, it was certainly in the top ten homemade, and very fluffy and light. the service was somewhat slow in view of the limited number of diners. we arrived early (5 pm or so; a single person (the owner? took our job, another delivered him, and another finally removed our teller, and asked if we wanted something more, although not until we had waited for some time. the only black mark on an otherwise pleasant eating. the only other note is that eating was not cheap, but at least the quality was there.

To quench my thirst a large German beer was needed before starting. All good so far. We started off with a mixed platter of wonderfully...fresh food which got even grumpy old me happy. I enjoyed every bit of it. For my main course I had ox cheeks. Well I'm not sure I've ever had such a tasty and tender cheek. It was beyond reproach and as my wife would say I'm very picky. With this we had a deep and long tasting bottle of Barbera D'Alba which suited the ox cheeks perfectly. No pud but wonderful expresso and a couple of clear grappas each. €150 for two of us; 2 beers, 2 starters, 2 main courses, 1 bottle red wine, 2 expressos, and 4 grappas wonderful. If you can pop in!

We were here with large party of business associates and the variety and abundance of dishes was more like a holiday family dinner than a restaurant. All of the food was well prepared and served with great hospitality. If...Da Danielle were in the city center or the Ruttensheid, people would be lined up to get inside. It's worth the short trip from the city center to dine here. The wine list is also very good.
