We recently visited our son in a quaint little town called Wharton and stumbled upon a restaurant boasting the "Best Damn Birria in Wharton." While I can't say how many Birria spots there are in such a small town, this one has certainly earned a place in my top three favorites of all time! The building is just an ordinary-looking house with a drive-thru, but we opted to take our food home instead of dining in. The woman at the window was incredibly friendly, and they even got my order right—NO CILANTRO! I ordered the loco box, which included one open Birria taco, two rolled Birria tacos, and two closed Birria tacos. It came with hot sauces, onions, cilantro, limes, and consommé. The open and closed tacos were served on corn tortillas while the rolled ones were made with flour. Every bite was fantastic! The meat was bursting with flavor, and the consommé was delightful. I also tried their street taco elote served in a bowl—so delicious! I wish I had taken pictures to share, but we had a whirlwind of a couple of days. I’ll definitely remember to snap some shots next time. In my opinion, this really is the best damn Birria in Wharton!
