Bakn
4.2 / 5 (1355 reviews)

Description

Bakn serves bacon-forward comfort breakfast with standout pancakes and avocado toast, drawing loyal fans despite uneven experiences. Patrons report friendly, efficient pickup and a calm, comfortable dining room, but others cite inattentive staff, long waits, chewy bacon and overpriced, inconsistent dishes. Problems with outdated online hours and unexpected closures have frustrated visitors. Great for indulgent pancakes and takeout—confirm current hours before you go.

Save yourself the trouble. The wait for food was long, the service was inattentive, and the lunch was overpriced for what it was—definitely below average. I ordered the $10 chicken sandwich, and honestly, McDonald's does a better job. My partner tried the berry pancakes, which were dry and lacked any real flavor.

It's quite disappointing that a business can't keep its online information up to date. I drove 45 minutes to the Warrendale location, which was listed as open online, only to find a "For Lease" sign on the door and the place closed. I then tried calling the main Carnegie location, but I didn't receive any answer. This is not ideal business practice. This restaurant used to be great, and it's such a shame.

We traveled 30 miles out of our way to visit their Warrendale location because we found information indicating that it was open. Unfortunately, it was closed due to COVID-19. Please update your Maps, website, and social media to reflect this.

I have to give credit to Bakn for rekindling my love for Bloody Marys at breakfast! So delicious! ; )

I can’t speak to the dine-in experience at this location, but when I walked in to pick up my food, the staff was very friendly. Everything was prepared on time, so all I had to do was walk to the bar, grab my order, and head back out. I really appreciated their efficiency, as it meant I didn’t have to wait outside my car for long! And of course, the food was just as delicious as I expected it to be. It’s Bakn, after all! I treated myself to the avocado toast, because this millennial loves her avocado toast without any shame. Plus, Bakn's recipe is fantastic. I also ordered a flight of their fall-flavored pancakes, which included apple pie, s'mores, and pineapple upside-down cake. I have to say, I think the s'mores pancakes are the most unique and the best of the bunch. But let’s be real, it’s Bakn—they know how to make a great pancake, so they’re all yummy! This wasn’t your typical dining experience, but hey, it’s 2020—what can we do? It’s great to know that Bakn is still delivering its deliciousness, even if I have to make a little extra effort to enjoy it!
