Dinner on my own, pleasant service. Excellent conversation with my Anglo-American neighbours. I had an excellent pasta of the day (tagliatelle with green asparagus). Limited desert offer but good tiramisu. Good wine by the glass. Only downside, smoking on the front part, bar area. It didn't bother while dinning, but still a bit of a surprise on way out. So many Italian restaurants in Vienna you would think they would try a bit harder. No menu to see, the one outside we were told was out of date anyway. After speaking first with the waitress who was helpful, the chef came over and explained why we couldn’t have what we had asked for. When the food arrived it was good but I would not recommend the challenge. View all feedback.
Our family stumbled 5 years ago into this restaurant and had the freshest, best grilled seafood throughout Vienna. We were back in town this summer and had completely forgotten the name of the place, but remembered the food and the staff so friendly that we literally searched through the neighboring streets until we found it again! The cook is very talented, and the waiting staff is very friendly and attentive. Her pasta and grilled fish plate is amazing. Absolutely recommend everyone who loves great Italian! We will definitely come back.
Great food, super service, visited by locals; This is a classic Osteria that reminded me of this kind of places in Italy no menu, only suggestions or cook to order as you desire. Our meal was delicious from starters to dessert. Had gone back, but they were closed on Sundays. So happy we found this place so different from the great soulless great restaurants and chains that you press through the meal to fill the table again. Can only recommend!
No catalog, expensive food, amatur cooking, unsalted food without imagination. the worst Italian food I ever taste
Delicious home-made pasta, outstanding food and service. The menu was being redone and our server told us about several pastas. We began our meal with a glass of house sangria from the Umbria region of Italy with a simple house salad which was melange of greens and small sweet tomatoes tossed in a simple vinagrette (delicious... something said for farm-fresh to table! . Our main meals were a vegetarian mushroom pasta and a pasta with savory italian sausage. Pasta was perfect and so good! We ended our meals with a mandarin sorbet and a sicilian cassata ice-cream (sublime! . The owner is from Italy and is clearly very involved in his restaurant. We speak no German nor Italian but that didn 't matter. Our server was sweet, gracious and attentive. We ended our visit with an amaretto digestif -on the house. This was by far the best restaurant we had been to on our visit to Vienna. Remember only cash and no credit cards! Glad we read the other reviews.
Great place without menu, the waitress tells you what the cook recommends or you can make your own wishes (usually). The special of the day (zuppa de pesce) was excellent. not the cheapest place, but this can (at least partially) have something with the amount of wine that three of us eat. One word of warning: payment was only cash. Not sure if this was only a temporary problem with their payment system, at least they offered me the bill.
