Local located on the road that leads to Alagna, just beyond the town of Varallo Sesia. Externally it is very anonymous and the car park we recommend using is the one next to the church on the other side of the road. The entrance is entirely made of wood with a compass, like in mountain huts, as well as in the first reception room where there is also a beautiful fireplace. We waited a couple of minutes without anyone arriving and then we called the waiter who quickly passed by. Having verified that we had a reservation, we were seated at a table set for one person... but there were two of us but it happens. Despite having indicated that we had a groupon, therefore a fixed menu, we were brought the menu and when the waiter came again to ask us what we wanted, I explained that we had a fixed menu voucher by handing over the paper. At the same time I asked them to bring me what was missing, glasses, cutlery, bread and water, in almost 20 minutes and two further requests we had everything. We were offered a prosecco aperitif and we continued with some special and welcome starters. The meat, an excellent Florentine steak weighing a kilo and perhaps more; We weren 't asked how cooked we wanted it, no big deal, it was very soft and tasty if only slightly warm, not hot. The cantucci, for dessert, were really good and plentiful; it should be noted that an entire flask of vin santo was brought to us as an accompaniment, free service and not a single glass. I found the preparation times between the various courses a little long even though I believe that the dishes were all freshly prepared. In general, the room service was very fragmented and dispersive, penalizing the overall context. I can 't comment on prices because, as indicated above, I was with a discounted voucher. I like the place in general for its cabin-style characterization; the bathroom and the dividing corridor with the other room, in a more modern style, should be given more attention to some finishing details. Despite a small mix-up, the owner proved to be a gentleman in his behavior, hats off.
Groupon evening with my cousins who had already been to Trota Ubriaca and were very satisfied, convinced they always took me there with Groupon, knowing that I'm crazy about Fiorentina, unfortunately I can only give two stars, fabulous culinary experience for as regards Fiorentina, which nowhere in this area will you be able to taste if not here, excluding appetizers which were appreciable, everything else was decidedly disappointing, given that with Groupon it is already established what you drink and what you eat, the service was disregarded, it seemed that they had no idea how it worked, we had four glasses of wine (there were 4 of us) one each to choose between a Nebbiolo and a Coste della Sesia... instead they gave us a 0.50 bottle of bulk wine (not labelled) and a non-alcoholic drink per person or a bottle of water for every two people, 4 tastings of appetizers (appreciable) and 1kg of Fiorentina for every two people, and finally 4 tastings of dessert (in reality they became 3 and as in the photo respectively lemon cake from the mill white, go and check the photo on the internet and you will see that it is the same, cocoa cake from the white mill, and tart undoubtedly packaged by I don't know which brand) finally coffee was also included in the Groupon. Once dinner was over they then decided that the drinks were separate and to be paid for by asking for an additional €12, naturally we pointed out that what was not included in the Groupon was only the wine, and all in all they decided that they wouldn't let us add anything else so the sums, go confident and determined to eat a delicious Fiorentina with roasted potatoes, choose a good wine and a coffee to finish on a high note, but for the rest I suggest other alternatives.
Tuscan cuisine with Valsesian influences. The first course is excellent, the second course is not very strong and for dessert the inevitable cantucci and vin santo. Naturally Piedmont wine: excellent. Overall rating: good. We will be back to try other dishes. Well done!!!
Unique experience One of those restaurants that makes you wonder why it doesn't exist right next door I started with a series of 4 hot courses belonging to an appetizer that bears the name of the same restaurant All delicious, I certainly won't forget the tomato soup, the porcini mushroom soup and the barley soup Next, I had wanted the bagna càuda revisited by the chef for a long time I dedicate the photo to this dish
As soon as we crossed the threshold of the entrance we were greeted by an uninviting smell of cigarette smoke and already the evening was not starting with the best of wishes. Once inside the place is very clean, warm, welcoming, minimal but tasteful furnishings. The food is traditional Tuscan with small adjustments and variations from Valsesia. The evening was spent dining with excellent food, good wine and the ad hoc interventions of the owner sommelier, who proved to be very competent and knowledgeable both about wines and everything else. What can I say, if we made customers smoke outside the five star compass, definitely recommended.
