Fortunately, Lava Restaurant was just a few hundred meters down the road from Hattsteinweiher Park. It is a great little restaurant catering to every taste with exquisite, reasonably-priced eclectic cuisine. I had a hankering for Schnitzel... any kind of Schnitzel... so I ordered Jaegerschnitzel smothered in creamy mushroom sauce. Loved every bite of it! My wife and cousin ordered Mediterranean pasta dishes, and they were equally pleased as well. The restaurant in situated in the front end of The Usingen Tennis Club amidst the beautiful countryside of Hattsteinweiher Park. There is plenty of parking and room for a post-Mittagessen Spaziergang to walk off some of the calories from a delicious meal. The restaurant is family-owned and hands-on in the operation of the restaurant. Needless, to say, the owner and the staff will bend over backwards to oblige the patrons. If you ever find yourself in the gorgeous hills and forests of Taunus, I wholeheartedly recommend a meal at Lava Restaurant! And if there in mid-May, please sample their Asparagus season menu.

The salad... read more Good restaurant, nice ambience. All meat dishes are particularly recommended, they are tasty and of good quality. The staff is friendly and attentive. The salads are more or less good, more or less because the salad dressings remind me of my canteen, nothing exciting, but the salads are definitely fresh. Vegetables are also typically German. But you have this problem almost everywhere. Despite these two small defects, I can definitely recommend the restaurant because the positives clearly outweigh the negatives.

Was asked when ordering whether medium was desired. Explicitly stated medium rare, no herb butter and no sauce salt and pepper is sufficient. I get a medium well steak : there was salt and pepper on it and pieces of tomato on the steak ? . The taste was okay, but unfortunately not what I ordered. Some had steak and all the steaks were medium well or well, even though no one ordered it that way. The vegetable side dish was something like frozen imperial vegetables at least it seemed that way. Service top! Absolutely, very good service. We were asked often enough if we wanted something else without it being annoying or intrusive. Ambiance is good. A little old but absolutely acceptable. Location is great, quiet, parking is also possible.
