This place is very close to my work, and I heard good things about this place from my colleague, so I decided to give it a try a couple weeks ago.

Ordered the Margherita pizza, came burnt on the bottom, beyond normal burningGot the lasagna for myself, cold in the middle.

The pizza was excellent, but I have not had the chance to try the sourdough crust yet. The olives on the Napoli pizza were delicious, and there were just the right amount of anchovies to add a salty flavor.

I first tried this pizza in the wine country of Picton, Ontario and fell in love with the quality. Now, whenever I am in Toronto, I make sure to stop by and have a pizza. The first time I tried their Bread in Toronto, I now have two reasons to visit! :)

I have a different opinion about good food, or maybe it was just an off day at the M. The restaurant had a small venue with around 16 to 20 seats, some uncomfortable church pews against the wall. One server was doing her best to handle the slow service caused by only two people in the kitchen. The supposed Best Wood Fired Pizza turned out to be a Napoli-style naan with minimal toppings, hardly any cheese, bland flavors, and large un-pitted olives on burnt crust. The $10 Monday to Wednesday lunch specials were not worth much. The Lasagna Bolognese was interesting, but it didn't taste like Bolognese. The layers of fresh-made spinach were good, as was the meat sauce, but it was missing the flavor of Bechamel or parmigiana cheese. For $19, it was disappointing to not have bread or a salad included. The Norman Hardie Cab Franc 2014 wine was reasonably priced at $13 for 5 ounces with a 200% markup, but it would have been nice to have more than two beer options. I prefer to stick to my favorite pizzeria further west on Dundas, where I have been going for fifty years, and leave the M to the younger crowd. The $50 for two people (before gratuity) with only one glass of wine was not worth it.
