The pizza is what... read more It's easy to miss Mattachione on Dupont, and the restaurant has relatively basic decor - what it does have is outstanding food at great value. The pizza is what you find in Italy rather than North American chains, amazing crust and not overloaded with goopy cheese so that you can actually taste and enjoy the ingredients. Excellent minestrone, solid choice of wines and beers, and the desserts don't disappoint either. We had bread with our soup, and the loaves are for sale too.A gem in the neighbourhood.

Pizza was fantastic, the porchetta was great, not quite fantastic. The salumi platter was as good as most I've had in Italy.I can truly say that this little neighbourhood place that is part grocery part trattoria is worth the visit. The chef takes great pride in producing very good quality Italian food at a reasonable price. The wine list is very good featuring Norman Hardie wines from Prince Edward county along with some very good Italian selections. Atmosphere is 'cordial' seating is reclaimed church pews so interaction with patrons is almost a must. Go there.

Now, whenever I am in Toronto, I make sure to stop by and have a pizza. The first time I tried their Bread in Toronto, I now have two reasons to visit! :)
