Was Dominic McGlynn at Mattachioni a mag?
The pizza was excellent, but I have not had the chance to try the sourdough crust yet. The olives on the Napoli pizza were delicious, and there were just the right amount of anchovies to add a salty flavor. View all feedback.

What Emilia Lemke dislikes about Mattachioni:
We were there the other night due to a great review in the Toronto Star.Portions are small and expensive. Its dumpy inside. The cheapest wine is $45.They have bottles for $90 although I can't imagine who orders that in a pseudo grocery store/eatery We weren't even offered...bread to start with our salad .What Italian restaurant doesn't give u bread????The pizza was small ,bland with little cheese and charred on the edg... It's easy to miss Mattachione on Dupont, and the restaurant has relatively basic decor - what it does have is outstanding food at great value. The pizza is what you find in Italy rather than North American chains, amazing crust and not overloaded with goopy cheese so that you can actually taste and enjoy the ingredients. Excellent minestrone, solid choice of wines and beers, and the desserts don't disappoint either. We had bread with our soup, and the loaves are for sale too.A gem in the neighbourhood.

Have to admit that I may be biased as it is my friend's son that owns and cooks. Been to Italy many times and this place is the real deal. Pizza was fantastic, the porchetta was great, not quite fantastic. The salumi platter was as good as most I've had in Italy.I can truly say that this little neighbourhood place that is part grocery part trattoria is worth the visit. The chef takes great pride in producing very good quality Italian food at a reasonable price. The wine list is very good featuring Norman Hardie wines from Prince Edward county along with some very good Italian selections. Atmosphere is 'cordial' seating is reclaimed church pews so interaction with patrons is almost a must. Go there.

Small restaurant that specializes in pizza and salads. The food was excellent. The place was clearly short staffed with only 1 server. We had trouble getting her attention at all to order anything. The food was perfect though.

I first tried this pizza in the wine country of Picton, Ontario and fell in love with the quality. Now, whenever I am in Toronto, I make sure to stop by and have a pizza. The first time I tried their Bread in Toronto, I now have two reasons to visit! :)
