Gotta love a neighbourhood Japanese Sushi restaurant. Situated on Front Street, it is near all the tourist attractions. When life was normal, you could zip into this place for a quick bite before heading to your next destination. I just so happen to walk past this joint on my home from work everyday, and also am very thankful they are still open during the pandemic. I will not lie. I am a creature of habit and I always order the Chirashi dinner. I love how there's a generous amount of slices of fresh fish variety on the sushi rice. It comes with a salad and soup. And also they will give an appertizer on the house as well out of the kindness of their heart. They have always been very polite and efficient with their service. I give them many thumbs up lol.
Pros: Very fast and attentive service. Food comes out minutes after you order. This place is quieter and not as crowded as a lot of the other sushi restaurants in downtown. There is also ample space between tables, making it ideal to carry out conversations. Menu selection is pretty good it has the standard sushi rolls, a la carte sushi and sashimi, udon noodles, don buri (rice bowls), and some combo set meals that include miso soup and small green salad. Cons: Not really a con, but the food is just average... on par with most other fast serve and casual sushi restaurants out there.
Good for a simple sushi dinner or lunch. The walk in special is a good deal. The basic rolls are fine. The in house specials are a better choice.
Perhaps the rent is higher on Front Street, but the prices at this sushi restaurant were also a bit steep. I found that there are plenty of other sushi spots downtown that offer better tasting and fresher options at the same price, or even cheaper. The food here didn't impress me as much as other places.
We were excited to try this place for a la carte sushi because of the yelp reviews but it's nothing out of the ordinary for me and here's why: 1) sushi in itself was OK, all the rolls specials had one California roll and another roll of your choice. So nothing super fancy. 2) the bill for a sushi combo and chirashi bowl came down to $50 which is definitely a lot more than expected considering the food was mediocre and options were rather limited. So overall, for the price I would say this place is not worth the buzz.
