Aloette - Toronto
Aloette
Description
Aloette presents a mixed bag of dining experiences. While the service is consistently praised for its attentiveness and friendliness, the food often fails to meet high expectations. Diners recommend booking in advance, as the cozy space features limited seating. Notable highlights include the beef tartare and burrata, yet many dishes, such as the burger and desserts, have been deemed underwhelming. Though some rave about the atmosphere and complimentary items like bread, others question the overall value. With commendable service and a few standout dishes, Aloette may appeal to some, but many suggest exploring Toronto’s diverse culinary landscape instead.

We really enjoyed eating here. the oysters were really very good, I recommend starting with when they like them. the burrata was fantastic with her pistachios and olives. the lamb frame had this smoked aubergine sauce, which was absolutely magnificent, and the absolute best dish was the filled multil mushroom. it was also with crispy chicken skin, which was a beautiful note. the personal was super friendly and attentive. prices are on the middle high side.
I would give this 10 stars if I could. The service was immaculate, every dish was next level insanely good. The complimentary bread melts in your mouth. The wedge salad will have you looking at iceberg lettuce in a whole new light. The perfect balance of flavours in every dish delights the palate. One of my top restaurant experiences of all time.
Came here for dinner and had relatively high expectations for this well-known popular spot.Definitely get reservations as it’s a pretty small spot and very popular. There’s roughly 6 tables with about 10 spots at the bar for seating (treated as tables). They have roughly 1 server per two tables so service is very quick. Our server made sure water was always filled and they made sure they explained each dish.If you’ve never been here before, dishes are made more for sharing and they recommend 4-6 dishes for parties of 2. So expect to pay roughly $100+ for 2 people (assuming you also get drinks). Most of the dishes were underwhelming in my opinion. The ones I liked the best were the ravioli and the beef tartare. The lemon meringue pie was way too sweet for me, which was disappointing considering how nice it looked.I wouldn’t be completely opposed to coming again but wouldn’t be dying to come here again.
TLDR: food and cocktails were great, nice atmosphere and friendly service Started with the not espresso martini with tequila, kahlua and chocolate which was super tasty and not too sweet. The chicken was nicely crisp and the classic burger was a solid and juicy burger. Andrew, our server, was very efficient and thoughtful about how we were sharing so props to him. Enjoyed a nice dinner on the patio at Aloette, which I would say was highlighted more by the great service and cocktails rather than the food experience. We had the wedge salad, tuna tartare and hamachi crudo to start. The salad was quite good but the other two starters weren’t particularly memorable. At $32 each, you’d expect something more flavourful and less bland. We also ordered the Aloette burger which, contrary to the tuna and hamachi, was both tasty and worth the money at $22. The fries were perfectly crispy and the aioli was also very good. I’d recommend stopping by for a cocktail, burger and great service, but I don’t know that it’s worth coming to Aloette if you’re expecting a culinary experience.
