Description

At Waitrose Café in Swaffham, diners experience a mixed bag of culinary delights, with highlights contrasting sharply against notable shortcomings. While some patrons enjoy a well-crafted breakfast or innovative lunch options, like flat mushrooms and avocado, others express disappointment over soggy fries and unremarkable sandwiches lacking in gluten-free options. Service experiences vary widely; some staff shine with friendliness, while others display lapses in attention. Though the café offers complimentary tea and a clean environment, many customers find the overall experience inconsistent and the food quality subpar for the price. Ultimately, it serves as a convenient pit stop but leaves much to be desired.

The staff at the restaurant were friendly and attentive. The cooked breakfast was delicious, not greasy and cooked to perfection. However, I was surprised to find that they did not have decaf coffee available. It seems like they could easily stock it from the store. Additionally, there was no gluten-free bread or toast offered. The atmosphere at the cafe always feels a bit cold and uninspiring, which is disappointing.

I went to the restaurant for breakfast on Sunday, August 10th, 2023. We were served by Steph and her team. The service was excellent and the food was of good quality. Despite the cafe being very busy, the level of service was exceptional. Steph had excellent communication skills and was friendly, engaging, and accommodating. She is a valuable asset to the company and a great role model for all Waitrose employees. Congratulations to Steph and the team at Swaffham for a job well done.

We frequently go to this café for breakfast and lunch. It offers great value for money and the quality of the food is excellent. The service is always friendly, with polite, chatty, and helpful staff.

Ok so there is no hiding that this is a supermarket cafe, but it is a very good one. The staff are helpful and friendly only losing a circle on the queue that can form. The food is much better than you would expect from a supermarket cafe and the children's menu is inventive. There are quick snacks, tasty cakes, great breakfasts and at a sensible price.

We stopped in for a drink after shopping, and found the cafe busy, a bit noisy, but clean. There are a few tables with comfy chairs, but most are of the school canteen variety, giving it a bit of an institutional feel. The overall atmosphere therefore was rather average. The offerings at the counter were rather limited, I felt, for a cafe in a leading grocery/superstore. There were no gluten-free offerings, and the breakfasts on offer were rather standard fare. The hot chocolate was rather good, and fairly rich, though the cream seemed processed and the marshmallows of the basic sort. Again, a little bit of a letdown, from one has come to expect from Waitrose. All in all an average, if convenient experience.
