Open Grill Steak House - Sarnia

It use to be a fairly good place to eat but we noticed the last time that the quality of food had gone down. Love that it was a Family Owned restaurant but you can only cut so many corners until it starts to become very noticeable. It's not a place that I would any longer recommend due to our last couple visits.

Due to confusion about their hours as listed on here we waited until 11 a.m to go. Told our server about our search online and the hours being incorrect. So their hours are Mon-Friday 8:00 a.m until close Sat and Sunday 9:00 a.m till close. Great brunch, the service was great and perfect poached eggs. Definitely will be back. I ordered the peamail bacon for $1.00 extra and it was well forth the extra $$$.

Visited the Open Grill with family members. A few ordered chicken dinners and loved them. One ordered a steak that she said was excellent, and she even had some left over with leftover baked potato for another dinner. My wife and I shared the 1/4 chicken/1/2 rack of ribs, both coming with baked potatoes and mixed veggies. Most of the meals that we chose came with salad bar included. Some good selections. They had few deals, like 2 steak dinners for $37 including salad bar. Nice atmosphere as well. One of Sarnia's better steak restaurants.

If you are looking for a quality meal at a "Steak House" you'll be disappointed. The salad bar was fresh and well stocked. Service was about average. It is what most people would expect of a family restaurant or a diner, but the pricing is not. Steaks were NOT well-aged, restaurant quality. Cleanliness of the men's washroom a problem. Apparently, the women's washroom was fine. The dining room rug is in desperately in need of a cleaning or replacement.

We were looking for somewhere close to the Holiday Inn for a lunch and decided on the Open Grill, since my husband and I had a great lunch there earlier this week. This is the caution, because this restaurant is so popular, they serve breakfast until 2:00 p.m on Sundays...so no lunch menu for us...BUT they do have salad bar on after 12, so lunch became steak and salad, Monte Cristo and salad or Eggs Benny and salad...the wait staff was very impressed that we turned breakfast in to lunch...great food and service.
