Was Ariane Kreiger at Doña Mago a mag?
Honestly, I was taken aback by how few people have discovered this hidden gem. It’s an unassuming, cozy little restaurant that serves absolutely delicious and authentic Mexican food. My Uber driver recommended this place, and I’m so glad I took his advice. We had a wonderfully flavorful breakfast, and my only regret was that my favorite dish wasn't larger so I could have enjoyed more of it. A big thank you to the sta... View all feedback.
What Hollis Folts dislikes about Doña Mago:
I had lunch at a downtown San Francisco restaurant that was quite empty, with only two of the six tables occupied. My friend and I decided to dine in. I ordered a burrito without beans along with a Coke. The person at the counter offered us chips and salsa, and we took a seat at our table. Initially, we received a small bowl of chips but no salsa. Shortly after, the staff brought out our drinks, but I received a Diet... View all feedback.

A big thank you to the staff and chef at Dona Mago for a fantastic meal. I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in the Mission District of San Francisco.
What a wonderful surprise! We wandered through the Mission District, enjoyed some delicious local cuisine, and stumbled upon Dona Mago. The food is prepared to order, which means it's incredibly fresh and hearty. I tried the daily special with black nopales, and it was fantastic. The chips and salsa were amazing, and the beans and rice were cooked just right, just as you would expect from a cozy spot like this. I can't recall what my husband ordered, but I know he loved it. If I could, I would dine here every day!
Popular for lunch! Great prawn burrito, good seating inside, but only one table outside. Reasonable prices.
When I used to work just a few blocks away, I often stopped by and enjoyed their incredibly hearty breakfast dishes, especially the huevos rancheros and chilaquiles, paired with their freshly made tortillas that are perfect for savoring every last bit on the plate. It was a delightful challenge to stay awake during work after such a satisfying meal. I recently returned after a few years, and I love that the place still feels simple and inviting, without any hipster pretentiousness. They maintain a genuine, family-oriented atmosphere, and it’s great to see that they haven't changed to fit trendy vibes—just a nice spot to catch the latest soccer game on their flatscreen. It's one of those places where I realize I’ve become a regular, and I couldn't be happier about it.
Dona mago is home made Mexican food at it is still best. I go there every week, sometimes every other day! go there. let them have a nice firm, say hello to el campion and la campoina.
