Description

Nestled in a small town, Cactus Bar presents a unique blend of dive bar charm and restaurant atmosphere. Recent visits reveal a varied dining experience, with some patrons enjoying hearty burgers and affordable drinks, while others express disappointment over service delays and food quality. Anecdotes of tough steak and undercooked sides point to kitchen challenges, though the friendly local vibe, colorful decor, and live music keep guests returning. While the atmosphere captures the essence of a classic bar, the inconsistency in service and food may leave some hesitant to revisit. A place worth exploring if you're in the area.

The excuse was made that they’ve only been open for 34 days and short staffed. Owner Kristina said that the reason the steak was tough and dry (it was a ribeye 8 ounce supposed to be medium), was because it was still frozen when they cooked it. The potato was put in a microwave for eight minutes with other potatoes. It was still not done. The salad took 20 minutes to get to me and that’s after I asked for it twice. The green beans were cold which the owner was shocked that I said that. Even though they have scoopable butter, they put out small cups that were less than half full or had already been used. Even though she eventually gave me a refund on my meal, I don’t think I would return there for any reason. And don’t even get me started on the 2 inch acrylic fingernails of one of the servers. Apparently, according to the owner, there is no health code in AZ against nail polish or length of nails for servers her polish was chipped so I think she needs to rethink that company policy.

It was November 2019 when I pulled into Salome cold, tired and hungry. I checked into Sheffler's Motel, where the hot water didn't even work . . . So, I came down to the Cactus Bar and was rewarded with a good meal and a couple beers. Life was better!

Fun Place to eat. They were able to accomodate our large group on short notice.

Friday afternoon for lunch, locals out front stated no food here, they offered a restraunt location in either direction, coming from a service orientated business, if they can not provide the service perhaps they should change there sign
