The best selection of flavours I've ever seen. The mango and basil icecream was incredible. We were a big group and were attended to very quickly. The place is spotlessly clean and had a huge amount of seating both inside and on the terrace outside. Definitely well with the visit and extremely good value prices.
The only good thing about this place is the service. The waiter was quick and explained things very well. However, the ice cream is pure fat and nothing to do with 'gelato ', a word that seem to appear randomly in the place to give a sense of Italian authenticity. No, it is nothing like the real thing!!! Their 'granizado ' which is flavoured crashed ice is excruciating to eat, no natural flavour just pure sickening unflavoured syrup. Don 't be fooled by the word 'artesano ' which is suppose to indicate that their products are home made and wholesome, here means nothing, unless over use and abuse of fat and sugar means that to them. The cherry on the top is that they ask you to pay for food you have returned and charge you extra (literally each individual item price is inflated) for eating (or not in our case) outside on the 'terrace ' which is really the pavement. Too pricey to!!!
Lovely little heladeria serving artesan ice creams in flavours and colours I never thought possible. The staff are super helpful and very personable and have a lot of patience with visitors. The owner, a Danish or German guy was particularly nice. Heladeria Playa is near the Port and no doubt this attributes to the price of the delights on offer along with the quality produce used. This ice cream really is delicious, not as delicious as Heladeria Colon in La Coruña but up there with the best of them. It´s a great place to hang out and relax as the pace here is unhurried. Oh, and be prepared to wait for a table either inside or outside as during the warmer months as this place is mobbed. Enjoy!
