I rarely write negative reviews, but this one is well-deserved. I recommend checking the 1 and 2-star ratings before deciding to dine here. I had a difficult time with my table selection and ended up sitting at the bar with my companion. The owner or maitre d' was rude and unaccommodating, making excuses for their behavior. I had been to this restaurant before, but I will not be returning. My order was incorrect, causing my companion to finish their meal before mine was fixed. The brunch was overpriced and did not include coffee or breakfast pastries. Instead of a basket of bread, we were given a tiny biscuit with no offer for more. Despite being promised toast with my dish, it never arrived. Roslyn has plenty of other dining options to choose from. If you enjoy being served with attitude, then this restaurant may be for you. Additionally, because we sat at the bar, I was unable to leave a review on Open Table as my reservation was cancelled by the unpleasant woman.
After driving by so many times, came here for dinner and sat outdoors. The staff was incredibly friendly, and WOW the food was phenomenal! The warm bread to start was delicious, and the baked Brie appetizer was completely out of this world. I had the cavatelli which was amazing, and the chicken kebab my friend ordered was equally as good. This is definitely one of those places on the fancier side without being stuffy, which was very much appreciated, and the food was up there with some of the best I've had. Will definitely definitely be back!!
Thyme is a great resturant. The location is great in Roslyn with the water view that adds to the experience. The menu has some unique dishes that I didn't expect. Like the duck tacos which were so good o forgot to take a picture. And the Brie and apple appetizer also wonderful. The lamb chops were done perfectly and both very different chicken dishes were perfectly cooked. The falafel bowl was interesting, good and very filling. A few things that bothered me. Not a big deal but if you're a fan of Charlie trotter's and have read his books you get it. For instance we had a great table in the corner with a nice view of the lake. And even with staff opening and closing the door it was a nice view. But the door is broken and has not been lit back together well. The jam is busted the knob plate is slanted and the window could use a cleaning. If you look around the resturant there are many of these little things that stand out as simple to fix things. Some of the posts across the apps complained about the hostess she was fine. Not sure why anyone has an issue. She's not overly friendly but we were greeted and seated promptly. Now for the service. Our waiter was great. Knew the menu well. Made some great recommendations and checked in regularly.
Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Seared Tuna Bowl, Flourless Chocolate Cake, Grilled Australian Lamb Chops Dietary restrictions: We needed gluten-free options, and the restaurant was very accommodating, with the chef offering most menu items made gluten-free.
We ordered the Sirloin Burger and the BBQ Hash and Egg. Both dishes were... merely average. There was nothing remarkable about them. The burger, though cooked to our desired temperature, didn’t have any unique flavor that would differentiate it from what you might find at any regular pub. The toppings were fresh, but the overall presentation felt lackluster. In the same vein, the BBQ Hash and Egg included all the right ingredients—brisket, potatoes, and egg—but somehow didn’t blend in a way that left a lasting impression. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
